Printer arrived on time well packed.  Installed without issues.  Tested well functioning as expected no problems.  Quality product.  Highly recommend by my computer service person.  Who I have known for years.  This is the 3rd or 4th HP printer I have owns over the years and they were all quality products.  However this is the first laser printer I have owned.  I bought it because of the great experience I had with HP ink jet printers over the years.

I bought this to use as a local printer/scanner in an office setting.  We have a network printer with multiple trays that I also use, but this 234sdw is used exclusively by me.  I am the accountant here, and I scan monthly invoices and write about 10 or so paper checks each month.  The 234sdw only has one tray, but that's okay considering the presence of a network printer, and the scanner's two sided option is manual.  Considering the relatively light usage, the 234sdw is perfect.  If I printed more, or if I had to scan more than the 234 might show limitations, but I absolutely love it for what I need it to do.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Professional quality printer in a small package.  Extremely easy and fast network set up.  Prints quickly and double sided to save paper.  Scanner works well.  For black & white printing, this is the perfect printer for me.

Excellent Professional Compact Laser Printer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had the printer for two weeks and are overall pleased with it.  However, it is not built like our old HP 1300 which has been in service at our house for about 20 years.  It is much faster than the Epson color inkjet it replaced.  We have printed about 300 pages so far.  We went the Instant Ink route and wish the built in screen or the software provided current print counts instead of always a day behind.  Seems like a silly thing on HP's part designed to get you to go over your monthly print level, and then have to pay per unit.

The door that you open to load paper catches when closing; I expect it will break and hope it does so within two years so it will be under warranty.  I hope this is a problem with just our printer . . .

Looks like it is fit for yeoman's duty

Printing is as advertised and meets expectations. The scanning program does not meet expectations. Individual or single sided scans are generally good although the thumbnail look at the scan cannot be enlarged. The most frustrating lack of capability is two-sided document scanning with the feeder. The current capability has the entire one side scanned pages and then the entire other side scanned pages. Organizing the pages into a correct sequenced document is extremely frustrating. I hope that the future software will enable more robust scanning.

Good but could be great

Very slow machine. Pro: great and fast wi-fi connect, super easy install, unboxed and had it running in 15 mins. Cons: website doesnt accurately describe print or scan speed. Speed of print is noticeably slower. Scanning one document takes an unusual length of time. I feel like Hp needs to be more transparent with description of specs online. I researched this model on youtube and found multiple videos of people
Complaining about same issue with this exact model so I am not the first victim.

HP inaccuracy describes item

You people are appalling with your efforts to manipulate your customers.  I abandoned our HP ink jet printer because it forced us to buy yellow ink when we only print in back and white.  Then after I set up the new laser printer with which such manipulation could presumably have been avoided, it stopped working after a few pages until I "completed" the setup, which meant signing up for your ink plan.  Outrageous, in my view.  At least printing on paper is largely going away, which will limit your ability to do this to me.

Haven't had a printer with this print quality this poor since the 90s. Text looks super chewed up, diagonal lines are always jaggy.

Prints fast and is cheap. So if that's what you're looking for it will work. But if you want to read what you print I'd stay away.

Very poor print quality

I bought this printer to replace my 25-year old HP Printer. I had this printer installed by a professional. After a few prints it stopped printing and I was told that an error had occurred and I could not print.  Things like this did not happen with my old printer.  I do not have time to trouble shoot a brand new printer.

Buy with caution

You don't own your printer, HP will always own YOUR printer that YOU paid for. Want to printer to your printer? Try it without logging into their app and it gets better. Forgot your password to their app? You can't print. Just wait for that password reset so you can print to your printer. It's not yours. Understand?
