Identical to  my 'old' Skil Saw.. Not sure how Hyper Tough does it for this price.. but to include a carbide tipped blace to boot.. this saw is an extrodinary value.. there is no reason to buy expensive 'name' brands.  The quality of this saw is excellent.   It takes 'tools' to make tools.. probably this is where the tools that made the old saws went.. into making these grteat saws again !

Identical to my Old Skil Saw ! SUPER QUALITY !

My trusty 50th anniversary edition 30 year old Skill circular saw pooped the bed mid-pronect. I grabbed this one because of the price and was surprised at how good it is. It weighs less than my old saw, but has enough weight to feel substantial and sturdy during use. The included blade is good for what it is designed to cut, plywood and dimensional lumber. The locking mechanisms are rudimentary, but they hold their adjustments during use, and they are easy to lock down. I have some other Hyper Tough power tools and they all work just as well as this one does. The power rating is on point and the saw cute easily through lumber, including 4x4s. HT offers some higher end saws and I would definitely consider them if I ever want to upgrade. I'm expecting this saw to last at least 10 or more years through mild to moderate usage with projects around the house.

This saw has proved invaluable during my renovation project. After my dewalt died, I grabbed this saw as an inexpensive temporary replacement for my well used dewalt. I was very surprised by the quality of the saw and how much power it had. I used it on both 3/4” plywood and dimensional lumber and in my opinion it preformed as well as my dewalt did. I highly recommend this product.

A Great Circular Saw At A Low Price Point

I needed a circular saw asap and didn't have the time to search and decide on a more premium branded one. For the price, it can't be that bad, right?

The answer depends—what material do you need to cut? How precise does it really need to be?

I made pine shelves for a utility closet and for an interior linen closet, and this is a great saw for that kind of work. I also had to cut several two-by-fours, and several pieces of sub-flooring. This saw cut easily and handily through all of it.

And that's why it gets 5 stars.

Now the caveat is as good as this saw works, it will never achieve the precision, build, durability of a better saw. It's not priced for it. The blade depth adjustment is stiff and feels like it's going to break down over time. The cutting fuse isn't square, even the bevel angle isn't square.

I used this saw to cut several pieces of cabinet crowning and it was slow, the saw got hot, and it became apparent this was the wrong tool for this specific job.

Excellent!—with a Caveat

When guys talk about power tools, I usually tug on my belt while I inhale loudly through my nose and try to sound as nonchalant as possible in my reply, “I only buy Bosch.” Well, no more. 
From now on I'll say, “I usually buy Hyper Tough. They are exclusively sold at Walmart,” hoping that the word “exclusively” would evoke quizical looks with a tilt of the head and a “Hmmm,” while carefully considering my global tool preference. 
Instead, my power tool snob bro's usually snicker and talk amongst themselves. 
Let ‘em snicker. I'm out of the closet, and must declare my Hyper Tough love from the rooftop of my mobile home while I release my snobbiness.
Buy this thing. It works real good, and it's not expensive. I may now have enough money to have my dog's teeth cleaned.

I am no longer a power tool snob

one of the first jobs was to cut boards out of a deck that was being demoed. I have had several saws over the last 40 years incuding black and decker and craftman however if i were to attempt with my other saws from years gone by they would have just hummed and came to a compleate standstill.The task that IM talking about is cutting thru 2 x6 boards along with 2x 12 boards with some being raised 1 or 2 inches higher. ALl I had to do is tilt the saw back in a higher position and not once take my finger off trigger not once blade slowed or stopped not once any hesitation . I t just did not matter how uneven the boards were it just kept cutting just like cutting thru hot butter. When tjs one wears out years down the road I Will buy another.

I havent actually used it yet. Im honestly scared to use it. The blade looks like it would shoot the wood right out from under it. Also i dont see how i am supposed to hold it or keep the guard open. once i have more time to read the paperwork maybe ill get around to actually using it.

I had sheets of particle board that I needed to cut. I do not really need an expensive saw since I rarely need to cut any wood. I wasn't expecting much for the price, but I was very surprised. This saw cut through the particle board like it was butter. If you need a saw for projects around the house, this is a great addition to your tool set.

Great Saw- a go to for your house.

Bought this so I could build a platform for a new storage shed. Saw worked flawlessly and made for a quick job. My only complaint is the location of the safety switch. Easily accessed with your thumb - as long as you're right-handed. I happen to be a lefty so tripping the safety switch is a bit of a pain for me. A little more thought should have gone into the switch location. Reminds me of my younger days when you couldn't find a baseball glove or a set of golf clubs for a left-handed person. Fix this and you get all five stars.

Small issue for lefties

picked up this Hyper Tough 7-1/4 inch circular saw mainly because the price was hard to beat. For basic jobs around the house it actually does pretty well. I've used it for cutting plywood, 2x4s, and some small framing work and it handled those tasks fine.

The saw is lightweight and easy to control, which is nice if you're not using a circular saw every day. It also feels decent in the hand and the blade that comes with it works well enough to get started.

The only downside I noticed is that it can feel a little underpowered when cutting thicker lumber or when you're trying to move quickly through a cut. If you push it too hard it bogs down a bit, so you just have to take your time and let the saw do the work.

Overall, for the price it's a solid tool for DIY projects, occasional use, or someone just getting started with basic tools. If you're doing heavy construction every day you may want something more powerful, but for homeowners it's a good value.

Good budget circular saw for light projects

It cut the 2x4s fine, but then the motor burned out halfway through cutting a sheet of plywood. I'm no expert on circular saws, but I would think they should be able to cut through plywood.
