I love this Electic Tea Kettle, I was looking a particular color and found it in the Haden Collection  although all Haden products are very beautiful. I decided for the Cotswold in the putty color to go with my kitchen. I love the press down lever  which lights up to a gorgeous purple color and when the water heats up in bout 3 and a half minutes the lever goes  back up. Warms up very fast.

Love this Kettle

Great kettle , tea tastes better with water boiled in this kettle. Only negative is metal spout for pouring is sharper than I would like, they could have smoothed the sharpness out of the metal. Would not pay the regular price for this purely due to the metal spout.

Great kettle

Good basic electric kettle, especially if you don't need extra bells and whistles. Easy to use. Like a lot of consumer appliances built to hit a specific price point, it would be better if they used a heavier gauge metal in the pot and base.

Works as advertised

After 12 years our electric Krups kettle with a plastic interiors needed replacement.  We spent hours reading in between the lines of reviews both positive and negative of electric kettles and looked at both costly and budget priced offers.  We needed a kettle simply to boil water for drinks but also to quickly heat cooking water to a boil,  so the size was a consideration.  We decided on the Haden, a  brand is new to us.  It's priced the same, ca. $60 as the Krups was in 2008.  When reading reviews, and for what we wanted and didn't want, this price seemed to offer a decent product overall, even though we were hoping for about $20 less.  Haden has a steel (metal) body which when descaling the interior, may be easier to clean;  the exterior will be easy to clean as the body has a smooth finish without any details save the brand name plate.
The top is not hinged which we consider a plus.  We can fit it in sinks that hinged lids won't easily fit and it's easier to inspect the interior for scale or the dreaded rust spots, this latter detail a common complaint even for newly purchased kettles of many brands.  We concluded that to avoid rust, the kettle needs to be emptied after every use.  The removable lid comes into play here, with quick evaporation helped by residual heat.  It pours accurately without splashes or drips, important with hot water.  The handle, attached at the side rather than across the top over the lid is a better design to avoid steams burns; it's also easy to grasp ergonomically for us,  another consideration for hand strength when the kettle is full.  The lever to start heating is large and accessible, illuminates,  and doesn't need much of a push, so gentle is the word.  A downside is that the exterior of the kettle does get hot unlike our Krups,  so remember to keep the area clear.  After about three weeks of use, we are pleased with it.  If color is an important consideration, Haden offers only two pastels.  The Putty color is just that, not rousing or striking, very neutral which is what worked with the color of the counter spaces.  Otherwise, a light Sage is your choice.   The Haden, touting its British pedigree -- and it does look solid, stout and reliable --  is made in China.  We expect ours to last; however, we bought an $8 three year extension; we look forward to never having to use it, never having to return it until it meets our Krups in electric kettle heaven after a life well lived.
