A removable water resevoir was a must after seeing the gross bits that collected in virtually unreachable places in my last coffee maker. The pot is programmable, has auto shut off, a front loading filter compartment, and 3 brew setting (regular, 1-4 cup, and bold). The digital display is nice (blue). The different brewing options work well, regular for a whole pot fast, 1-4 cups for a single person, and bold for when you have time to sit back and enjoy the smell of slow brewed coffee. The carafe is designed so the measurement decals face the same was as the handle. It has a small plastic "dam" under the lid to help prevent spillover from pouring to fast. We have had this machine for about a month and I am very happy so far. Here is hoping that the durability will match the overall design.

Great coffee maker

After 2 weeks, we continue to enjoy our Hamilton Beach 12-cup coffee maker. The programming functions are easy to use and we really like the detachable water container that allows us to fill it at the sink. The basket is easy to install and remove, using "cupcake" type filters. The coffee tastes good and is reasonably (though not scorchingly) hot. We're very pleased -- especially for the low price we paid.

Great Value

You would think that designers would have figured out by now what is needed on a coffee pot. Yet, most of them totally miss the mark and it leads me to believe that they don't try to live with their own crummy designs. Pots that drip, difficult controls, messy loading and unloading etc. After much research, I realized this has everything as it should be. No-drip pot, removable water reservoir to avoid having to pour water in (which you can do that way as an option if you want to, with a flip open lid), removable filter basket for easy cleaning, swivel feet and simple programming. On top of that it is a great value.
This replaced a messy KitchenAid unit that went belly up after less than two years. We'll see how long this one holds up.

Well designed

This is an excellent product, congrats to Hamilton Beach! I love everything about this coffeemaker. Compared to the many, many coffeemakers I've bought over the last 40+ years this one ranks #1. A "back up" will be purchased this week.

Some of the best features are the no drip carafe with comfortable handle, stay warm feature (no more scorched coffee), 12 cup basket, blue light illuminating the digital read-out (won't have to use a flashlight to see the time!), sleek design, and GREAT tasting coffee.

Thanks Hamilton Beach for combining all the great features into one product!

Best Coffeemaker ever!!

I've only used this coffee maker for a week, so I cannot attest to it's durability, but so far I love it! It is easy to program, & has three brew options and temperature settings. The design of this coffee maker is perfect. It has small rollers on the bottom to turn it (not drag it) on the countertop if you need to. The removable water reservoir has cup markings on each side of it, & a flip up lid that you can use to fill it up in place if you prefer. The fact that you can remove it to fill or clean is one of the two features I love most. The other feature is the pop out holder for the coffee basket & filter. If it does prove to be durable, than I think it is one of the best coffee makers on the market, maybe even the very best.

Great coffee Maker

After reading numerous reviews of this product, we were impressed enough to purchase the Hamilton Beach 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker - with the precaution of purchasing an extended warranty to counter any quality failures. We found that WalMart matched Amazon's price with free shipping to the store nearest your home. The extended 2 year warranty was very reasonable - less than $7.00. We are hard-core Amazon shoppers and enthusiasts, so we were very pleasantly surprised by WalMart.

Our entire family loves the coffee brewed from this machine. It is light-years better than our previous coffeemakers of similar dollar value. I suspect our coffeemaker will pay for itself within months from the trips I will NO longer need to make to Starbucks for a great cup of coffee.

We love the no-drip feature (that actually works) enabling you to sneak your cup of coffee before the entire pot has brewed. We love the fact that the water reservoir may be removed and washed, hence no hard water build up ... or worse. The front loading filter is very convenient, as are the different settings - all of which we experimented with. It is compact and attractive - excellent design and engineering. Though some people did not prefer the blue light on the clock, we love that as well. In truth, we haven't found anything about this coffeemaker that we don't like/love. Most importantly, it brews a truly excellent cup of coffee!

My advice for an optimal experience with this product is to order it through WalMart (if it is not in stock at the WalMart near you). We were able to pick up our product in just a little over a week. And, if the product is defective (which should become evident within a short time based on the reviews we read), you may return it directly to the store - rather than having to mess with shipping it. Just be sure to purchase the extended warrant - and keep your warranty, receipt and paperwork safe because of the quality issues reported.

May your experience be as satisfying and "tasty" as ours. :)

We have simply been "that" happy with our coffeemaker and experience, largely due to the time others took in giving a thorough review of their experience - both positive and negative. Best Ever Coffee Maker for the Price!

I was sick and tired of the dripping carafes and baskets on many of the major brand coffee makers I had owned so I researched reviews and this Hamilton Beach was one of the top rated. Don't let the low price fool you or give you pause. This is a great appliance! Easy to use (I especially like the removable reservoir). Timer and clock are a snap to set. Best of all....you can pour a cup of coffee with NO DRIPS...not one drop.

Great Coffee Maker for home use

We were given one of these coffee makers as a gift and we liked it so we bought another for another property. The hour control button does not work, so setting times for delayed brewing is impossible without working around the problem. I don't care to return it so that's that. I will probably eventually do my workaround. We still like the brew, the temperature, the speed, etc. These units replaced Mr Coffees for about double the cost.

Slight problem but acceptable.

Our old coffee maker didn't have a lighted display and we had to use a flashlight to change the settings, so the blue lighted display on this model was a big selling point for us and we love that feature, but unfortunately, there are a few other features it doesn't have that our old one did. For example, there is no beep to let you know the brewing is complete, also no beep to let you know the 2-hour warming feature is about to shut off, so you can grab your last hot cup. Brewing is rather loud and there is quite a bit of steam that escapes through the vent in the top, so we are unable to keep it underneath the cabinet while brewing (it would eventually damage the wood). Hamilton Beach has been around for a LONG time so the brand name was also a selling point, but I think they need to go back to the drawing board on this one!
