This fryer starts out great but loses heat quickly and stops working entirely after that. I was looking forward to use this item but after many trials, I realized that it was not worth the money I had put into it and I would not let another person lose money like I did on such a terrible product. I hope that this review was helpful to future customers.

Very Disappointed

Nothing like ready hot grease and your favorite batter and the results, some gorgeous crunchy chicken, fried mushrooms and fries after its all done .
This unit has a lid you can close that will keep the grease from popping all over the place awesome easy to clean or just throw everything except the heating element unit into the dishwasher and your fryer is good to go for another round with fresh grease.

I brought home the fryer an made a batch of onion rings the first night and it worked fine.

The next time I went to use it the heaing unit would not come on. I pluged and unpluged it several times, tested the reciptical to make sure there was power there, then I tried pushing the reset button as per instructions and still nothing.

I returned it to the store for a refund.

Not happy with product

I love it. the first time I used it I was somewhat apprehensive about it because of all the reviews I had read before my purchase and none of the negative ones have been apparent ( sogginess, greasy, etc) EVERYTHING comes out crispy on the outside and hot and fluffy on the inside. When turned on, the fryer doesn't take long to achieve desired temperature One question--where can I get filters to clean the oil?

I don't know why I went a long time without one.

I am 28 years old and never had a deep fryer before. This deep fryer is pretty simple to use, just like my George Foreman Grill! It is amazing and I actually had to put it away for a while or I was going to get fat off of all the Chicken Tenders and Cheese Sticks I was making. The power cord is really short and magnetic, but I haven't had a problem with that. The timer on my machine isn't working or loud enough to notify me "DING" when the food should be done, but I just use the kitchen stove timer which isn't a big deal. Pretty awesome device for serving 2 people, prepare to gain a few pounds. I am really happy so far with it!

Great for my first Deep Fryer!

Works great! However, I was very surprised at the size of the actual basket. Smaller & holds less than the picture shows. The lid doesn't work quite like described in the literature, but isn't a problem.  Overall I would recommend to friends, but would let them know about the actual capacity & about how the lid actually works. I do think it's a good value for the $

good value

I like this deep fryer. Quit a bit smaller than I expected. I am however, pleased with the timer being connected with the power. Huge safety factor with my son. The smaller size makes the clean-up much easier. It requires a little more oil than the "max" level because the heating element takes up some of the depth. I have only had it a couple of weeks. So far, so good. Definitely recommend to anyone. By the way, it takes about 10 mins to reach 375 deg. the maximum time for timed frying is 30 min. However, there is also a "stay on" feature. Some reviewers exaggerated how much you can fry at one time. Those reviews seemed to be from Walmart associates. Nevertheless, this IS a good deal.

Smaller than expected

Yes, I like my Hamilton Beach deep~fryer. The temperature stays balanced which keeps the cooking even & done right. I like the timer feature as well as the green light & that the tehnolgy doesn't let the oil burn. Easy to clean & roomy enough to cook many pieces of chicken or a batch of fries @ once.

Good Product!

I was overall pleased with this Deep Fryer. I did notice that the timer (one reason I purchased this model) seems to be flaky at times on shorter time of 5 minutes or less, like for onion rings and small chicken pieces. Otherwise it seemed to keep the temperature very close even with fries. I would recommend this for the price I paid (I found it on sale).

Deep Fryer

This is a great fryer for the price. Heats up quickly and cooks quickly. The only thing is the cord is short, so when I use it, I have to get an extension cord. Also, I wish the handle would swivel down so when I am not using it looks nicer. I just remove it and put it back on. Overall it is good.
