Used this...worked great. Only problem is that its hard to clean...small nooks and crannies.

Works, but hard to clean

It takes about 20 mins to make, other than that the coffee is really HOT and it tastes great!

Overall a good coffee pot

I actually bought this item to keep hot chocolate hot. I made it and got it super hot then put it in this pot, we took it out to give to the homeless in about 35 degree weather. We were out there for about 1.5 hours and the chocolate stayed hot till the last cup.

Exactly what i needed

I purchased this for use by my small church. A 12 cup was too small and a 60 cup was too large so a 40 cup was a decent compromise. It does a standard job of brewing a decent cup of coffee, however, unlike one claim of a 20 minute brew time, it took a full 30 minutes to brew a 20 cup pot from cold water to green light. Unlike what the instructions say, the brew light is not red, it is blue. Minor detail. Ready light is green. Blue to brew, green to go. That's okay.

I do not like the lid. The rim is poorly designed. It is a bit difficult to set the lid on the pot and twist to lock. The lid does not have a natural tendency to align itself as the rim is too small. A slightly larger rim that helped the lid self align would be very nice. As it is, it's a bit frustrating to get the lid in place and lock it. That is also a minor thing but it could be improved.

I believe this urn will give several years of good service but it is just you average coffee urn.

Typical Coffee Urn

The coffee pot seems to operate ok but I don't like the dispenser. A few times the cup has been stuck behind it and I've had to pull the pot close to edge of counter to get cup out and it has spilled down cupboard. They tried to make it so you could do it with one hand but it needs to be a little higher.

Redesign needed

Bought this on sale the first chance I got because it sells out fast every season.Makes more than enough for you and holiday guests.Water alone heats up fast for tea and instant cocoa.Coffee percolates hot and delicious, instructions say to take out the stem and basket after brewing so coffee stays hot but won't get bitter from over steeping.Use oven mitts because steam is hot, people.One thing I think matters is enough clearance between the coffee dispenser and the cups you choose.Small cups let you sit the urn in the middle of a table, big cups need for the urn to be at table's edge.In saying that last part,if you have to put the urn toward the edge the table should be wide and sturdy so that someone who has a heavy hand on the lever can't tip the urn over.Outside of that it's great.

Super for Holiday Entertaining!

Served me well!! Hot cocoa bar was a success with two of these babies going strong. Not recommended to let the hot chocolate boil in there only because it gets into the heating element and is hard to wash out but it was awesome!!! Be careful with the spout it seems delicate and easy to break. Cleaning it when only boiling water is a breeze. Don't drink coffee so can't rate it for coffee but the chocolate was awesome as it heats up quite fast considering its 40 cups. overall loved them. In addition, I loved love love that the cord can be detached for easier clean up and storage.

Loved it!!

This coffee pot is just what we needed for our group. We didn't have much money to spend so we got this Hamilton Beach 40-cup instead of the Hamilton Beach 42 cup. The 42 cup brewer was $10.00 more. What a deal for the 40-cup pot. We only make 30 cups at a time. Also, I like the fact that you can see how much coffee is left, then I know if I'm making too much, since I'm not there during clean up.

Great buy!

Pro: Like that it keeps the coffee hot after brewing without "burning" the coffee. It's wide diameter and shorter height is convenient for cleaning. The pour spout works as advertised.

Con; The electrical chord could be longer by a foot or so. The LED light which lights as coffee is being brewed quit working after 4 brew cycles. But it comes on after the coffee is finished brewing.

Otherwise I like the coffee pot in general.
