smashing!  i make smoothies almost everyday and my 40 yr. old blender smelled like burning.  didn't want to pay a lot.  the smoothie makers are way too small small for what i needed.  then there were the way too expensive ones.  after searching a few times, i find this baby on sale.  bingo.  it has every setting you need, including crushing ice and smoothies.  easy to use, easy to wash, compact for the size.  big plus for me, it's white.  love my vanilla yogurt, banana, milk and whipped cream smoothies.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I make a smoothie every morning using 1 cup for frozen strawberries, 1 cup of frozen blueberries, 1 banana, 1 cup of blueberry juice and 1/4 cup of flaxseed. Using the Hamilton Beach Smoothie 10-Speed Blender, I put all the ingredients in the pitcher at one time. Then I use the Grate setting for 15 seconds, then switched to the Smoothie setting for 2 minutes. What I got was a perfect Smoothie!!! This machine works great. At first I was concerned that the pitcher was made of plastic since my old blender had a glass pitcher. But actually the plastic pitcher cleans up much better than the glass one. All the flaxseed easily cleans off the plastic. To clean it, I just fill the empty pitcher with water and blend on Grate speed for 1 minute. I also like the way the blade is attached to the bottom of the pitcher. This also makes for a easy clean up. In summary, the Hamilton Beach Smoothie 10-Speed Blender makes perfect smoothies, is easy to use, cleans up in a snap, is relatively quiet and is built very durably.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first blender, so needless to say there was massive overall excitement, a learning curve involved and some things I didn't expect... although I probably should have. The blender is first and foremost a GREAT size – it doesn't take up too much counter space, but still has a VERY impressive look (being in a classic all black color) and container size to it. I was happy to know I could make more than a few servings of smoothies, shakes or other icy beverages at one time. I did some research on what I wanted to make first, and it turned out to be something simple – a vanilla shake. They turned out fantastic! The blender mixed everything so well, they had the similar taste of shakes from a local fast food chain, so that is definitely going to save lots of money, plus there is the satisfaction of knowing you made it yourself and it took less than 5 minutes to do! Smoothies will definitely be next, likely followed by some cool Summer drinks for the adults! One thing I didn't expect (and likely should have) was the noise! The blender is quite noisy, and with this being my first one, I don't know if it's expected or not (I used it on low), but I'll simply use it during daytime hours. There was also a bit of a chemical smell, probably from the blades spinning about and whatnot, but it was minimal and will likely dissipate with use. I'd take my two tiny complaints with a grain of salt though, because this is my first blender, but I'm so happy with it that they really don't count much at all! There are a TON of cool settings to use for aerating wine, chopping nuts, etc. and I'm anxious to try them all! It will be getting a bunch of use around here and I'm very pleased to have it!

Great Blender for Beginners!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although I haven't owned this blender long, I am pretty impressed with how well it works. It takes less than 20 seconds to assemble and the instructions for use are pretty easy to follow but I recommend that you do read them -as silly as it may sound. I really have to stress how important it is to add liquid to this blender before you try to puree or blend anything. Without adding liquid, the blender WILL NOT work. Once you add the recommended eight ounces of liquid, the blender works great. As advertised on the box, it really does pull in all the ingredients (added to the pitcher) right into the blades for chopping, mincing, etc.
I like how this blender has dishwasher safe parts and the pitcher fits easily into the dishwasher as well. You can also hand wash the blender if you choose to of course.
This blender has low and high speeds and also several blending modes including ones to make milk shakes and to break ice up.

The only downside with this blender is how loud it is to operate. For its trial run I added strawberries and vanilla ice-cream to the pitcher (with juice) and the unit was incredibly loud. I can't imagine trying to blend ice cubes! Fortunately, this doesn't effect how well the unit operates.
I'm hoping this blender will last a long time and will continue to operate as well as it did upon initial use.

Super Blender!

We have blended and smoothied to our hearts content. The buttons accurately describe what their function is. We have not found anything that cannot be chewed up by the spinning blades on this Hamilton Beach product. I was in the mood for a Butterfinger blizzard style drink yesterday. I added in the ice cream, milk and hit the milkshake button. The blades made quick work of the pieces of Butterfinger in the ice cream. The drink was very thick and it was definitely tasty. I heartily recommend this smoothie maker. Great piece of equipment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This smoothie blender is very lightweight, with a plastic blending jar (although the base is the same type as my regular blender).

I put flax seeds and oatmeal in my smoothies, and when I used my old blender, the seeds and oatmeal would be stuck all over the sides of the glass jar. However, this smoothie blender has a different kind of blade, so all of the ingredients are in the smoothie and not stuck to the jar. I used a rubber spatula to scrape the bottom of the smoothie into my glass.

The cord is only 24”, so I had to move the blender to a different section of my kitchen counter to reach an electrical outlet. The blade assembly and bottom of the jar are permanently affixed, but it wasn't a problem getting the inside of the jar clean. The only removable parts are the lid and filler cap, so a total of 3 parts to wash.

I also used the smoothie blender to chop walnuts, which it did pretty well. There are options on the panel for: Grate, Ice Breaker, Milk Shake, Smoothie, Icy Drink, Stir, Aerate, Puree, Crumb and Chop.

All in all I'd say this is a convenient, easy to use and versatile blender.

Lightweight, Versatile Blender

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was thrilled when this Hamilton Beach 10 speed smoothie blender arrived at my home. It's a very attractive appliance and the model I got is a brilliant black. It has a removable, large filler cap which is good because you can add bigger ingredients, such as large ice cubes into your smoothie or milkshake. The large pitcher comes with a pouring spout and it has marked measurements on the side. This model has a blending blade assembly instead of the one with a removable gasket. The assembly is permanently put together which is great because it is so much easier to clean. The blades are different from a regular mixer. There are two individual blades. One is curved in an upward position and the other is also turned upward but is not as curved. I made a powder protein drink for my husband and me. I used the high setting and the smoothie button. Word of caution when adding ingredients – because it's a blender, not a mixer, the blades don't mix everything in a fast circle- they blend. The contents go up and down and all around so the when you remove the filler cap, you may get splashed. I used two cups of milk for two servings and added the protein powder. Then I turned on the blender and carefully removed the filler cap and added apple chunks – big chunks with the peeling left on. The blender acted like I wasn't adding anything to it and kept right on blending. Then I added a banana. The blender strained a little but it kept on blending very well. Then came the ice cubes – I used big ones out of a regular ice tray (these are big and rectangular) but the blender just kept right on going. I ran the blender for about 30 seconds after all the ingredients were added. I think this was probably one of the best protein drinks we had. It tasted creamy and the apples, bananas and ice were thoroughly blended. Delicious. I also like that this blender comes with good directions. I've used mixers for a long time, but this blender is used a little differently.

Great Blender

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When we received the smoothie blender, the packaging created great first impression. The impression held up well even after unpacking and we were excited to make that glass of smoothie. Once you put all the pieces together, it looks really good. Since we already knew from the product description that the jar is made of plastic and not glass, it was not a factor to complain. Having said that, glass is my preference and plastic jar is not something I like as it is likely to become dull with each cleaning. All other features like removable cap, buttons for ice, milk shake, icy drink with high speed and other low speed ones are standard so I won't elaborate on those and stay focused on smoothie. We finally made the smoothie, it blended very well, however, the taste was not as good and we all felt there was some sort of dominant smell and wondered if this was due to the jar being made of plastic. It was a disappointment considering the fact that the product is called smoothie blender. Overall, the product is okay but I cannot recommend this product to anyone; I would rather suggest them to buy one with glass jar.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Hamilton Beach Smoothie 10 Speed Blender is loud. I mean, extremely loud when operated, one could use protective Ear-Muffs. I dug out my old (from 1996) Hamilton Beach 10 Speed Blender to compare the noise and sure enough, my old one is quieter. As far as operating the buttons go, it's pretty straight forward, you can choose between High and Low, although, on High this Blender churns even louder, so I don't recommend that setting for long. The Blender-Pitcher holds 7 cups (the old one only holds 6 cups) which is a nice amount for Smoothies/Drinks. One thing to note: When I used a frozen Smoothie Mix, it didn't blend very well at first, I had to pop the Pitcher off, shake the Fruit chunks up a little to separate them again and only after doing that about 3 times, it finally started blending the chunks into a Smoothie. And the other thing that's a small down-draw is the fact that the bottom of the Pitcher doesn't detach anymore. On my old one, you can screw the bottom off and take the Blades out and wash Pitcher and Blades separately, this Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender-Pitcher does not come apart, so when I first used it, I didn't rinse all the Smoothie residue out right away and when I washed the dishes including the Blender-Pitcher it was quite a pain to clean the Pitcher and the Blades, I had to soak it. It would be a bit better if the Blades came out like on the old Version of the Blender, because then you can scrub the Blades (carefully minding your hands) with a brush much easier or even pop the Blades in the top-rack of the Dishwasher. So in order to have easier washing up with this Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender it is recommended to rinse out the Blender-Pitcher quite well after use right away. One thing I like of the new Blender versus my old one is the little cup on the lid that pops out now has measurements on the side, that's an improvement, especially if you would like to measure an alcoholic shot into the Mix and not overdo it. Overall it's a decent Blender, just way too loud in my opinion and a bit quirky with frozen Smoothie Mix. But it makes nice Fruit-Slushies and crushes Ice easily. For what we use the Blender, this Hamilton Beach Smoothie 10 Speed Blender works well enough and I would buy it if I needed a new Blender.

Put some Ear-Muffs on when using Smoothie Blender

after two uses it smoke up tell me why did I waste my money or what it feels. Yes it's nice and cheap but 2  uses and done seems like a waste to me refund me please because a replacement is a another waste
