She is learning to use it very quickly.  She called her mother to ask how much coffee to put in the coffee well container to make a single serve.  She texted me that it was very nice and she would be sharing it with her 3 roommates. 
Due to college requirements, only coffee makers without a hot plate can be used in dorm rooms.

Works as advertised.  Makes hot coffee.  It is simple to use and easy to clean.  I usually use the basket filter when making coffee.  Have used the hot water dispenser for tea.  No complaints at all.  This machine was ranked highly by Consumer Reports and less expensive then some machines costing three times as much.

Works Great

This is a perfect coffee maker all in one it dispenses hot water for those who don't wish to have coffee and it's also convenient because you can use keuric as well as coffee in can I love it . It makes mornings easir .

Product works well. Quick, easy to use.  A little bigger than I anticipated but we have adjusted. I like instant coffee but the rest of family like the k cups so everyone is happy with this system.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Coffee Maker, Programmable FlexBrew with Hot Water Dispenser (49988) free from Walmart Spark Reviewer. It is fantastic. It is easy to set up for the first time and to use. You can make a fresh cup of coffee any time. You can use a single-serve pack or ground coffee, and it is compatible with any k-cup pack or k-cup type re-usable filter. It brews up to 14 ounces of coffee into a cup or travel mug. It also dispenses up to 16 ounces of hot water for tea, hot cocoa, instant coffee, or cereal – directly into your cup or bowl. I am glad it does not have a large reservoir because I do want fresh water each time, not stale water. When I made hot water for the first time in this machine, it took about 2 minutes to heat and the water stays hot (above 176 degree f) for 30 minutes, then shuts off automatically. All the removable parts are top shelf dishwasher safe. I find the k-cups pricey, so I use my favorite ground coffee. My wife can make her cup of coffee at 6 A.M. and then set it up for when I get up at 7 A.M. for my own fresh hot cup of coffee and everybody is happy! It does not take up much space on the counter and looks really nice and matches our other small kitchen appliances. This machine is best for people who drink only a cup or two of coffee at a time and want each cup brewed fresh and fast.

Versatile Single Serve Coffee Maker

Overall, this coffee maker does what it says and so for that, I can't fault it. I love the options of using ground coffee or a pod, or just to quickly get some hot water. The hot water dispenser is the really annoying aspect. The reservoir is ridiculously small, though I have to say, heats water extremely fast so the speed partially makes up for it. There is no way to know how much water is left in the hot water reservoir so you can make a huge mess if you add too much, which is easily and often done. To dispense the hot water, you have to push a lever, but you are forced to use a small cup to do this. If you have a taller mug, it won't fit. Why they heightened that side of the coffee maker makes no sense to me. It should be flat all the way across. The coffee side of things are fine but we use that much less as I am a big tea drinker and enjoy a larger tea in the morning. I have to fill my usuall tall mug with a small cup and of course, I make a mess then too. 
It's a decent machine, hasn't caused us any trouble yet, but definitely has it's quirks. Since the heating of the water for the water dispenser runs for only 1/2 hour (I think), if you are looking for something that doesn't continually heat up water and may be not that energy-efficient, this machine may appeal to you more. I really don't think it is priced as it should be (but that's not Walmart's fault). It should be a much less expensive machine.

We have our likes and dislikes about it...

This machine will make a good tasting cup of coffee but some grounds get through the reusable filter.  Also there is a fine line between not having enough grounds, which results in weak coffee, and too many grounds which results in the grounds over flowing and making a mess while also getting in the cup.

Bought this 8 months ago.  Worked fine until yesterday when the water boiled out of every seam on the coffee pot and left the coffee pod and my cup empty.  5 year warranty wants me to send it back to Ontario and pay the return postage after they decide to fix it or replace it!!!!

Piece of Expensive Junk

After one week, "needle" warning on the display. No coffee brewing, just clean the needle with a paperclip. Ridiculous!! Have a Keurig for 8 years; never had to shove a paperclip into the needle. This unit is going back.

It brews a decent cup of coffee, dispenses hot water OK, isn't too much of a hassle to operate, however; it stopped working somewhere after the 10th cup. I fill the reservoir, press the button, then nothing. I see a "FIL H2o" message on the display, fill it with water AGAIN, and nothing. 3rd times a charm? Nope. Didn't do anything. This thing is cheap garbage not worth the money spent.
