[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must admit I was a bit skeptical about this product; but after putting it through its paces with lentil soup & pulled pork butt I am a convert. The first thing noticed was how light it is. The insert is
metal, not ceramic like other slow cookers. I used the insert on the stovetop to saute the onions, etc. before making the soup & then used it to sear the pork butt before putting in the slow cooker. It works as advertised. Keep in mind, the insert is oval while the stovetop burner is round but it didn't seems to affect the even heat distribution. Both the soup & pork butt were cooked in the normal amount of time. I didn't use a slow cooker liner either time but clean-up was easy. There were 2 downsides: Being metal, the insert handles do get very hot so there's a chance of one burning one's hands if not careful & the electrical cord is very short. I know that's supposed to be
a safety feature but it's a challenge if your counter space doesn't give close access to an outlet.
If there were a way to give 4.5 stars, I would give that rating simply due to the short cord.

With this slow cooker, I can sear my beef in the inner pot, directly on my stovetop and transfer to the cooker. The product has 4 settings, off, keep warm, low, and high. You can easily cook 8 chicken breasts with room to spare for vegetables.

It is big enough to make a meal for our family of four with leftovers. The slow cook feature allows you the flexibility to not have to watch food continuously as it cooks so it is great for long days. After cooking the pot and lid are very easy to clean and it can easily be stored in a cabinet to save counter space.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I unpacked the Hamilton Beach 6 Quart Stove Top Sear and Cook Slow Cooker, the first thing I noticed was how light weight it is. It's easy to pick up and carry, even containing food.  I decided to cook a pot roast which always requires searing the meat first. Let's put this to the test. I sprayed the pot with cooking spray, got the pot hot and put the chuck roast in to sear.  Usually, I have to do this in a skillet and then transfer the meat to a slow cooker.  Not today. I did not have to dirty another pan to sear my pot roast.  I put the pot on the gas burner and seared my meat beautifully.  Then I added potatoes, onions, carrots, seasonings, water and wine.  I put the slow cooker on low at 9:30am and at 6pm, we had a delicious dinner.  There's more.  I put the pot and the lid in the dishwasher.  Clean-up was a snap.  Easy to use, light weight...this is a keeper and will be getting a lot of use!

Where Have You Been All My Life

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great slow cooker! I loved the ability to take out the insert and use on the stove. SO convenient! Sear meat before slow cooking. Sauté veggies before slow cooking. I made fajitas and seared the meat in the insert, took it out and sliced, then saute'd the peppers and onions, and then I put all all back in with fajita sauce and slow cooked it all together. A very successful meal that my family loved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, I have not had any experience with slow cookers before and I was surprised how easy it was to cook a not very complex dish for the first time. I made vegetables with pork there and simply put all ingredients there in the pot. I switched to the "High" mode and waited for 4 hours as it was advised in the recipe. After 3.5 hours it was done.

The next time I cooked pork ribs with a few spoons of sauce. Despite the recipe suggesting to have it cooked for 4 hours on "High", the ribs were well done in 3.5 hours. It was a juicy and tender dish. I found the taste of prepared dishes is one of the great advantages of this slow cooker. They are especially delicious, soaked in their own juice.

Also I used the cooker to prepare condensed milk. It took more than 8 hours on "High" for me and resulted in a pretty tasty condensed milk. However I must admit that the small amount of the results is not worth the time and effort as I had to stir it every 15 minutes when it started to get thicker to avoid burning.

As for cleaning experience, I washed the pot a few times in soap water using the soft washcloth and a few times I put it in the dishwasher. I noticed small scratches inside the pot after using (or washing) it just once, so it is not too strong and scratch persistent as I wish it to be. Also I would like to admit the shorter time of cooking compared to recipe time if it goes about any meat. My stewed cabbage with meat was done much faster than it was suggested in the recipe. I was checking the dish when it was about 40 minutes till the end and turned off earlier when the dish was done.

Overall I would say I did not notice any issues with the product. All meals I tried to cook were done fine and tasted great, so I continue exploring new recipes.

A great slow cooker that makes his job well

The only redeeming factor was the ability to sear or brown meat in the crockpot, saving cleaning time 
Thisl slow cooker works just as well as my own HB slow cooker so the only advantage was the stovetop use for searing. That now raises the question is it possible to use other slow-cooker innercrocks the smae way or is this a totally different crock composition. Not very impressed except as a stovetop browning pot.

Stovetop Searing Pot

Browning the surface of the rib roast was great because of the higher sides of the slow cooker vs using a pan, it kept the splattering out of the pot to a minimum too. The oblong shape is more conducive to more cuts of meat as well. The controls were straight forward with High, Low, Keep Warm, I would have liked more options with temperature choices. The finish is unique in color but still neutral. This would always made a great gift for a housewarming with a fair price point.

Convenient feature with reliable quality

I like this slow cooker, and it offers a sear cooktop feature which is helpful when making a roast to seal in the juices. The functions are very basic, and the only drawback is there is no integrated timer. I used a kitchen timer but I miss that function and the switch to warm function when done. Nice sturdy compact design, and easy to use.
