I've finally found the PERFECT bird feeder! This feeder is so well made and well thought out. One thing people never think about is water traveling down the rope/wire suspending the feeder. The hanger for this feeder is connected at the sides, not on the lid. Check! Also, large black birds invade my feeders and waste 90% of the feed. This feeder has a clear baffle that slides down the outer tube making it too short for the larger birds to stand on the perches and feed. Now the little finches, and cardinals can eat in peace! Check! There is also a removable diverter of sorts that prevents too much feed from pouring out and being wasted. Check! The perches and feeding holes are metal and even the woodpeckers can't hurt it. Check! I've had the feeder now for almost a month and the feed is still fresh and the birds love it. Before purchasing this feeder I would fill my old feeder weekly with most of it on the ground or the feed was wet and clogged up. I live in SW Florida and it's raining season now. We've had several windy rains and the feed in this feeder never got wet! Check!! Don't hesitate buying this feeder, it's the most PERFECT feeder you'll ever own.

We are very satisfied with the Hanging Classic Bird Feeder with the 12 inch Weather Baffle Guard. By adjusting the guard we were able to discourage Grackles and Red Wing Black birds from using the feeder and allowing small birds like Wrens, Finches and Chickadees to use the feeder.

We normally use a flat feeder to feed our birds because we can get better pictures of the birds, but this Spring we became inundated with starlings who quickly emptied the contents of the flat feeder onto the ground.  These feeders make it impossible for them to empty quickly, so our other birds can still find food here and don't have to leave to look for food at other houses.

A Wonderful Feeder for All Types of Birds

The smaller birds in my neighborhood love this feeder and the baffle keeps the pigeons from hanging onto the perches and spilling out the seeds. I win!

Sturdy, well built. Love this feeder. Bought my first one about 10 years ago I leave this feeder out year round and the only reason I have bought another now is the roof has cracked and won't stay on.

Great bird feeder

I have been through many different types of feeders over the years, the last ones being Roam Wild. Although they were great for keeping the seed dry, they were difficult to clean and I had to refill every couple of days. This feeder not only keep the birds and seed dry, I only have to refill every couple of weeks which is great.

The Birds and I Both Love These

I originally put the inner seed diverter at the bottom of the cylinder. However, I found that the peanut splits that I used in the feeder were getting blocked by the seed diverter. So I raised the diverter up to the top of the cylinder and then poured the peanut splits through the open part of the diverter. Now, the peanuts can easily fall into the feeding ports. The level of peanuts is now falling nicely as birds use the feeder. 

This would probably not be a problem if I were using smaller seeds such as sunflower hearts or sunflower seeds.

Well-built feeder

So far so good! I saw one squirrel try to reach down to get to the seed, but I scared him off, adjusted the cone piece a little and I haven't seen him since. It is important to place it away from any trees or bushes that squirrels may be able to jump from. Im enjoying this bird feeder so much every day and so are my grandchildren!!

This bird feeder is very well constructed and has a large hopper that holds roughly twice as much seed as the one it replaced. I had to adjust the baffle several times before birds would sit up under it. The seed stays dry even in a storm. My biggest complaint is that the lid has no attachment to the hopper, so it routinely falls to the ground during filling.

Very good feeder

I would appreciate it if you would mark the appropriate measurement of the baffle whether it be the 3" or 4" depending on if you want to feed the smaller songbirds rather than flocks of the blackbird family.  I would provide an easy way to also make sure the baffle is not slipping out of position. Also, I have to use gloves to get the cap off for filling seed.  Thank you for your consideration.

suggestions for improvements

The feeder that I purchased did not work as intended. I followed the instructions regarding the baffle exactly as instructed. Unfortunately when the squirrels went on the baffle is slid down to the feeder holes. To address this issue I positioned four felt floor protectors beneath the baffle. It worked. The baffle no longer slid down. However the baffle did not work. The squirrels were still able to get on the baffle and get to the feeder holes. Your product does not work. I called yesterday to complain but was told the office was closed.
