Futura cooks on average 46&#37; faster than a microwave oven. The beautiful, durable black finish given by 60 micron thick hard anodising has two benefits. It makes the pressure cooker absorb heat faster making it more energy&#45;efficient. And the pressure cooker stays looking new for years. Inside&#45;fitting lid is pressure locked while in operation, patented pressure regulator prevents clogging of steam vent, direction, controlled fingertip steam release, shielded safety valve. Body and lid are hard&#45;anodised to over 50 microns, this surface will not tarnish, pit, corrode or scratch, it will prevent food from coming into contact with aluminium at core, it will stay looking new for years. Hard anodising was first developed by Russian scientists to produce a metal surface tough enough for space travel. The same technology is now used by Hawkins to make its Hard Anodised pressure cookers and cookware. Through a process of electrolysis at sub&#45;zero temperature using a high intensity electric current, a 60 micron thick layer of aluminium oxide &#40;Al2O3&#41; is formed molecule by molecule as an integral part of the metal.
