i have been using regular new baseball s and they work fine but I would recommend that you buy the yellow dimpled balls.  they seem to be more on line

Grandson got a black eye from this machine the first time he used it. We only had regular baseballs and they came out too fast, there seems to only be one speed. When we first got it, did not work, had to call manufacturer to get parts sent. It was last one Walmart had online and was defective.

Watch out for black eyes.
