Huh! When opening the parcel I noticed immediately how odd this item was shipped. Within the box, pieces of cardboard were bent around parts of the unassembled chair. Pretty wrapping paper included! After unboxing the chairs contents I realized that there was no screws, no bolts, no tools. Thankfully I had the correct width of bolts stored away in a tool box. However my bolts are much too long and I only have 2 nuts. With the help of the nuts, the bolts were able to attach the clear seat to the metal base. Slightly uneasily, I sat on the chair, and to my surprise it is quite comfy! The back rest curves with the proper structure of a spine and the bottom curves nicely with that of a bottom. A slight lean back will cause the back rest to bend- do not lean back too far! On to the adjustable hight- I was uneasy to test the hydraulic-like mechanism on this char- but to my surprise, it preformed perfectly! With the maximum level being quite high- which I need for my office- and the lowest level still high enough. Lastly my thoughts on the material. The wheels, black plastic, all silver parts (including adjustable leveller) are metal, and seat is- as it says- acrylic (clear plastic). 
Suggestions; Do not buy this chair if you or someone in the household who will use this chair weighs over 150lbs. Be prepared to find some bolts. Maybe get that other chair you're considering- unless like me- you're in love with the clear aesthetic.
