At first I was unsure about the quality of the knife, but I've been satisfied so far. It has held its edge for about 6 weeks and I just resharpened it. The knife is rather heavy and the spine is thick, but that can help cut through heavier vegetables. For the price, it's worth it.

This knife has good balance and, so far, has maintained its sharpness.  Cutting tomatoes and cheeses are easier because of the sharpness and the texture of the top of the knife. Food doesn't stick to the knife as with other knives. This was a good purchase.

Wonderful knife, normal American chef knives don't work well with me. A chef will recommend a knife based on how you cut. For people who cut straight a normal American chef knife is fine but for people who cut at an angle then it's always a Japanese chef knife. This knife is the best when it comes to affordable Japanese chef knives and was a must for me since I make angular cuts.

This knife is great. Comfortable handle, well balanced, strong blade and crazy sharpness. Some items I felt I wasn't even applying pressure to slice. Butchers meat very well.

This knife isn't joking around

I was a little skeptical at first. Because I mean first off it's only $66 or something originally. But I got it on sale for only $21 or so and these puppies are the real deal. The handle is amazingly, ergonomic and comfortable. The quality is such of a Japanese blade in thickness, sharpness and design, these puppies are the real deal. So if you are having second thoughts about purchasing this item because you think it might be low quality, that is not the case. The quality is such of a Japanese blade in thickness, sharpness and overall design and feel. This would work well for a gift for somebody who likes to cook and doesn't have a proper chef's knife.

This knife is seriously legit! VERY SHARP!, Slicing onions, potatoes , and veggies is like slicing butter. Quality is fantastic. Knife is beautiful.

My Hecef Knife

I'm impressed with this knife. Most in this price range are flimsy, but this is 67-layer forged steel and has a good, solid weight to it. I picked it up on a flash deal, and for that price, the quality is hard to beat.
It's plenty sharp right out of the box and the hammered finish actually helps keep food from sticking to the blade. It's well-balanced and feels like a tool that's built to last. Just keep it out of the dishwasher and it should serve you well. Good professional-grade knife for the money.

Sharp edge, solid weight, and a great price!

great out of the box sharpness good real Damascus not that fake stainless steel with a sticker melted on it bullcrap handle feels amazing in the hand only complaint is that the way it's marketed suggests the knife is made in Japan but in reality it's made in China would be 5 stars if it wasn't for that and the fact that it doesn't come with a proper blade cover although packaged in a somewhat fancy box

don't get if you want a knife from japan

Described as " Damascus Steel 67 layers".  This is neither. This is a nice, heavy and sharp knife, but it is not hammered layers, it is just stainless steel with some etching to the blade to make it appear to be layered. One would think Walmart could be a better job of vetting their product descriptions.
