I really like these  Heffty bags, mostly because they zip shut.  I don't particularly like zip-top bags that, at times, you can't seem to snap shut. With these zipper bags, you know they're closed and you can get more air out too.

My favorite storage bags

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a new SPARK reviewer and this review is about Hefty Quart Slider bags.

I am a “batch” cook, so I will prepare chicken, hamburger, etc. in bulk and then freeze it in meal size packages. I began doing this as a young wife to minimize the mess, time spend preparing entrees and to always have an entire ready to reheat in the freezer for a quick meal. I found that it only takes a few minutes to make “side” dishes to complement these frozen entrees.

I continue to do the same thing as a single, retiree because it not only minimizes the mess, time spent cooking it also allows me to buy food in bulk to save money. I would recommend “batch” cooking to everyone – dieters, college students, young professionals, couples, parents and retirees like me.

The key to successful “batch” cooking is having an easy, safe and cheap storage container for your food. Hefty storage and freezer slider bags are ideal as they come in a variety of sizes to meet your needs.

I will be reviewing both the Hefty “Freezer” version and the “Storage” version. The only differences that are apparent when you compare the two items is that the “Freezer” version has a blue label on the box and the slider strip is a matching blue. It also contains only 15 bags per package. The “Freezer” sliders feel like they are made of a slightly heavier material than the “Storage” version and according to the specifications it is 35% thicker.

The “Storage” slider has a dark pink label and slider strip. It does feel like it is made of a thinner material and the package contains 20 sliders. Both sliders are the same size 7 by 8 inches. The size is just slightly larger than a “Sandwich” slider, so will work perfectly for slightly larger sandwiches or other lunch items that do not quite fit in the standard “sandwich” slider.

Although the instructions indicate that you can reheat/defrost items in the sliders I never do that because I am one of those people that tends to overheat the food and end up with a melted slider. I also cool cooked food in the refrigerator before placing them in the sliders for freezing.

Give “batch” cooking a try AND be sure to use slider bags for quick, safe and easy storage. Keep a marking pen on your refrigerator to write the date, description and even the calories of the food right on the slider label.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Hefty slider storage freezer bags are quart size. Each bag measures 7 inches by 8 inches which will fit many items. They can be used in the freezer or for items such as cookies, candy and sandwiches in them. They have a heavy thickness to them.

They are clear see-through with a large area for writing the date and contents on the front of the bag. There is also an arrow that lets you know which direction the closed position is.

They state they help prevent freezer burn and have a stronger seal than ZIPLOC Bags. They have a patented MAXLOCK track design for an extra strong seal. When you put the slider to the side, you can hear a little click on the bag. They also have a zipping sound that indicates the seal is secure.

I use these bags everywhere in my house, not just in the kitchen. I use them in the bathroom for holding make-up, cotton balls, Q-tips and the like. I use them for carrying dog food for the day while out with my dog.

Every house needs a couple different sizes of these storage bags on hand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Hefty Quart sized freezer bags to review through the spark reviewer program. I have mixed reviews for this product, sadly more negative than positive. For starters compared to other branded quart sized bag, this bag is smaller, then add to that the bulkiness of the zipper and you no longer have a full quart capacity to work with. In the past I have always regarded Hefty products as top quality products but I am beginning to rethink the brand name with an all over impression. Even though the size is slightly smaller than other brands the design of putting the zippered opening on the side makes it easier to load the bag. Now the zippered closure itself, sadly I really can't give it any positive feedback other than it looks cute. The zipper design is not air tight by any means. Now if you have a freezer bag, it should be air tight to prevent freezer burn and liquid leaks before they freeze. I can't speak for the quality of the Hefty storage bags at this time but I would not recommend this brand of freezer bag to anyone that does regular and frequent freezing of their produce. They might work very well for non-food containment.
