Charger

I have used this system for 6 months now and have had to replace the transmitter and collar due to lightning (transmitter) and outgrown for the collar. The new set didn't work properly; I contacted Customer Service at HiTech, and was promptly sent replacements. I have used three different containment systems, and HiTech is my first choice. My German Shepherd puppy trained to it within days and rarely gets a beep. She loves water and this collar withstands regular dunkings even though it is lightweight and has the audible warning feature that I love.

The collar is made of a rugged material, easy to trim to fit. I have a 10# dog and a 60# dog, and it can fit both. Doesn't seem too heavy for the smaller one, but it might be too much for a 3 pounder. (Not sure how strong their necks are.) It has gone through rain and multiple tugs of war between two other dogs that I have. It's easy to check the charge - put it on the charger, and if it needs a charge the light will turn green. When it's fully charged the light turns red. Two different sized prongs allow you to switch from short-haired to long-haired dogs. It also works perfectly on the High Tech electronic door. I had one bad one, and they replaced it very promptly. (I called the Sam's Club number.) The price seems high for extra collars, but I guess the durability I've seen on these justifies most of it. I've checked other sites, and so far Sam's has the best price on them.

Rugged collar

I love the collar for our automatic pet door but recently it stopped taking a charge using the charger. I spoke to a rude woman at the High Tech and she said if it was within the 1 yr warranty, they would replace it otherwise you can't replace the battery, you have to buy a new one at a whopping $99. I was so glad Sam's offered the collar for $27 less. I would have given the collar a higher rating but I am disappointed due to the cost of replacing it instead of changing the battery.

It never needs a battery replacement but....

I guess it meets my needs, but it would be better if it was explained that there is a need of a charger. In technical specs, it cost me another 25 on amazon to get this part, then it all worked.

It works very well and doesn't have to be recharged too often. It is a little heavy and bulky, but on my large dogs it is okay.

High Tech Pet Collar

This collar is excellent in the fact that it is waterproof and adjustable for any size dog and rechargable, but I MUST warn anyone thinking of purchasing this collar! If you have an active dog who likes to wrestle around with it's toys or play with other dogs, DON"T purchase this for that kind of dog! THIS COLLAR HAS A TEST BUTTON ON THE BOTTOM OF THE COLLAR. If the dog rolls wrong or accidentally hits that test button while playing IT WILL SHOCK YOUR DOG! The button is very touchy and one of my dogs was simply turning over in her sleep and got shocked! Or when she is playing with her toys or the other dog, she lightly bumps that button and it shocks her. Our other dog is larger and isn't quite as active and has not had a problem with the collar, but our younger more hyper dog gets shocked accidentally about six times a day! If there is a way to disconnect the button or cover it somehow, then it would be great for her. The benifits outweigh the risks with keeping her in the yard and working the door, but I wish there was a resolution for the shocking so she doesn't become timid or skiddish.

Also, mine came without any packaging whatsoever. I wonder if this was a refurb??

Was planning on installing this weekend but having doubts about keeping this system...

Buyer Beware

Have had the system for a short while now. Only got 3 recharges out of one of the collars, and it won't take a charge anymore. Have to hassle with warranty or buy another one. System is so effective that dogs don't challenge it anymore, and stay in the yard regardless of whether it is working or not. System is great, just really disappointed in "rechargeable" battery. To the lady who thinks the test button zaps the dog, it only makes the noise on test,which freaks the dogs out but doesn't shock them.

Dead battery
