I don't know why I didn't purchase one of these years ago. It's sooo useful and has plenty of torque. I only gave it "good" ratings in value and durability because I haven't owned it long enough to rate it otherwise, but I would expect it to be excellent. I would highly recommend this drill.

I purchased this drill combo kit to replace a Hitachi drill kit I had for about 7 years. I was pleased with the performance of the old drill and went looking for a similar unit. The new drill has more power and meets my needs perfectly. The flash light is a nice bonus and is great as a work light. As a retired engineer I appreciate the quality and value this tool has.

Quality and value

Used this only once and was very pleased with the weight and balance of the drill, the effectiveness of the torque setting and the level of speed control I got with the trigger. The price was great and Hitachi tools I've used in the past have been very reliable.

Inital use was great.

I was skeptical when I first bought the Hitachi but I am a true believer these days. I am not a contractor. I mostly work on projects that I need to get done and the Hitachi has not let the down yet. The flashlight has been a blessing when your on your back in cramped spaces. I do not believe you can go wrong purchasing a Hitachi.

Best yet

This is the second Hitachi cordless driver I've owned. The first was a 9.6 volt version purchased in 1994.( which still operates perfectly with a recently purchased replacement battery.) I do own a third unit, brand XXX,we'll call it. It was a good unit but it's quality was a bit disappointing.For the price of this unit if it only lasts half as long as the 9.6 version I'll be satisfied.
I'd recommend this unit to any homeowner.

Great design, ergonomics well thought out.

Had a Milwaukee unit for years and replaced with Hitachi. Feel of Hitachi tool - power, torque and ergonomics (did not make my hand tired holding it) was great.

Excellent cordless driver

I haven't had a chance to use the drill very much yet, but what I have noticed is the extra power. I was disappointed when I realized the flashlight didn't have a LED bulb, Too bad, that would be awesome.

I like the power that the 18volt delivers

Bought this unit after a recommendation from a friend. Went to use it after charging and storing for a 1-2 weeks and found both batteries almost dead. Hope this not a sign of things to come. What small tasks I have used it for so far has been average/adequate.

Still not sure.

The drill broke when drilling with 11mm steel drill. The gearbox started to make noices. Before that drill was good compared to price.
My advice is that don't buy this drill abroad/internet, buy it from your local seller. Because if the drill breaks then you can get it to warranty. I bought the drill from another country and this model is not sold in my country. In this case you have no warranty for the product (or very difficult to get it to warranty)

This product is not very durable

Purchased a previous Hitachi drill kit that came with 2 BCL1815 Li-ion batteries. Only used for occasional light duty around my home. Needed to use the drill recently and found that neither battery would take a charge! I went to the store looking to buy replacement batteries and discovered that it was cheaper to buy a whole new kit! My original batteries both failed in less than 2 years time. Something is over priced here, and I think it is your replacement batteries! I am very dissatisfied with the service I got out of those 2 original BCL 1815 batteries.

Had to replace 2 defective BCL1815 batts
