I used this on a demolition in a very old home going through nails, screws, horse-hair plaster, and old wood with ease. It got filthy, ran hard, and long and it kept on keepin on. Very well priced for the quality for a corded tool, i wasn't gonna spend the extra cash on a cordless one to barely be used.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After burning out two reciprocating saws in short order I  went to my local box store and reviewed several saws.  I decided to try the Metabo.  I primarily use the saws for cutting out large roots when I remove trees.  The Metabo had no problems with cutting through the  large roots.  It did not overheat, cut through the roots quickly.  The 11 amp motor is a huge plus and did the work easily.  I am very happy with it.

Great Saw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Metabo HPT reciprocating saw was just what I needed for a recent hand railing upgrade necessitating the removal of an old wooden newel post.  This saw cut the post flush to the floor in less than a minute.  I also have a variable speed Metabo (formerly Hitachi) drill that has given me excellent service.  Both power tools were priced right and available.  I will certainly consider Metabo for future power tool purchases.

I had an old Milwaukee that was 30 years old,
but had the old style blade attachment system and the blade was always coming loose after installing it with the set screw tightener. That problem is solved now and the power of the Hitachi is comparable!

Great Value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This saw is fantastic.  That is the concise evaluation.

This saw is simple in operation as to blade changing, foot adjustment, changing between orbital and straight cutting (a great feature), and speed setting.

I have no doubts that this saw will serve me for a long number of years as it is a solidly built saw and cuts easily through a 2X4 and even a 4X4 on either orbital or straight cutting.  This saw is a "Hoss".

Control is as easy as looking where you desire to cut and then letting the saw do its thing.

I still have difficulty believing this saw was such a bargain.  I wish all my tool investments started so smooth and promised such a great future.

I highly recommend this saw to the DYI and professional as well.

Too Good to be True?  This saw certainly is!!

Have not used it much, just some heavy wood cutting, but it is a great tool so far. Plenty of power and lots of nice features--orbital action, variable-speed dial plus a large vs trigger, large rafter hook, LED light, and a decent plastic case--at an excellent price point. Definitely smoother and more versatile motor-wise than the DW304 10-amp saw, which costs about the same but which lacks all of the features listed above except the vs trigger. Unless you need a four-position clamp or a full 15-amp tool, you can't go wrong with this saw for the money or otherwise. My only question is how durable it will be--only time will tell, but I bet it will last, and I am not stressed because of the five-year warranty on the saw.

Does what I want how I want it to

A fine saw for the money and power rating.  I did not need a big utility professional saw, just a small around the house tool (also for trimming in the yard), and it does the job much better than another "equal" rated brand of same specs that I returned, and traded in for the Metabo.  Metabo cost 15 bucks more- so what, a MUCH better product.

Within its class, this is the top saw.

The tool is real good for the wate. It sounds real good. I have only one problem with it. I need to use a letter opener to hold the lever down so that I can put the blade in. And I shouldn't have to do that. Could you please send a lever holding tool. Thank you.

The blade insertion can be made easier.

I own all Hitachi power tools. I have a reciprocating saw, a circular saw and a cordless drill. I have nothing but great things to say about all 3. I just purchased a house and I use my cordless drill every day. I finished my attic using my circular saw and was impressed with the product. I removed 3 deep rooted bushes and a maple tree stump with my reciprocating saw. I chopped the stump out like I was using a chainsaw. The reciprocating saw worked beautifully. Never using them before, I really am impressed with Hitachi products. Please send me some discounts so I can purchase more power tools. Money is tight with purchasing a new home.

I have 3 Hitachi products. They are excellent. The only thing I dont like are the cases for the tools. I especially don't like the latches.
