This humidifier wick is basically made of paper as, I believe, all of the similar ones are.  However this one has a flexible aluminum coarse screen cage built in.  This cage provides dimensional stability to the paper filter while allowing it to be shaped to fit the humidifier.  This is very helpful in extending the life of the wick.  Wicks that are only paper tend to become floppy when they are cleaned of mineral deposits (e.g. vinegar) or mold (e.g. Pine Glo) for reuse.

Many users of any humidifier may be quickly shocked at a build-up of hard, crusty deposits on the filter. This is generally in direct proportion to the "hardness" of your water - especially calcium, etc. These minerals, suspended solids and chemicals such as chlorine will be revealed in this filter and quickly diminish its effectiveness. The term "filter" takes on a wide scope of definition as the PRIMARY function of this type of filter is to allow water to "wick" and provide as much surface area for the water to be exposed to air that is circulated within the humidifier - and thereby moisture is created and discharged by the unit into your room or house. By wicking through the filter media, it does filter "junk" in your tap water and thus significantly reducing - and almost eliminating discharge into the air. By maintaining a fresh filter you increase the amount of moisture that can be produced by the filter. A filter that has "hard - crusty stuff" over 10"% (by visual inspection) simply has limited ability to allow airflow to pick up moisture. You may be able to purchase a less expensive filter, but they just don't perform like this one does. After EHAUSTIVE research you can't buy a better filter for the money. If you have impurities in your household air, pets, smoking, seasonal pollen, etc. This filter now takes on another important important role as it does significantly filter the air on the general area where it is located. Look at the side of the humidifier at the vents where the air is sucked in - you may see some fuzz or chalky buildup. If you do this is evidence of probably 5-10 % of ACTUAL airborne contaminants that are also caught by this filter - therefore you are actually receiving an extra bonus of filtered air in addition to humidification. Although this product was designed PRIMARALY as a humidifier - it also does filter the air that runs through it - if the filter is not clogged up. Making sure the filter for any humidifier is maintained will maximize the both the primary and secondary benefits of your investment. >> The same goes for your dehumidifier. Allows your humidifier to work at peak performance

This product seems to be a better filter than the original filter that came with my humidifier. The cost was better than other online sources and I was pleased with the arrival time for shipping. I will be reordering and hope that it is available again when I need it.

Good product and value for my humidifier.

These filters are well made and last longer than the discount ones.  Well worth the price.  They are made to allow maximum filtering .

Very good filters, well worth the price.

The new filters work wonderfully! The set of two were great to get and the delivery was quite fast, which was a plus because just as the heat is being turned on, the nose gets clogged. Using the humidifier and brand new filters helps to alleviate that discomfort a ton!

Just what I needed!

Humidifier filters are so expensive so I thought I'd try these cheap ones. They're a perfect fit and work great! They have some kind of metal cage exterior that I wasn't sure about but it actually keeps the filter from sagging. Something the brand name ones didn't have. I'll order these again.

Great price - fit perfectly!

I was so happy that I could get my filters via the mail.  It makes my life so much easier because I cannot always get to the local Walmart, and it came so fast!

Humidifier filter

I rated this product low because of 2 reasons. The first reason is that it is a much smaller filter than the Honeywell Brand of replacement filter that I have purchased in the past.   It fits inside the unit but does not fill the entire space available to it.   I am not sure how this affects filtration.  The second reason is that the shipment tracking number provided for this product was not recognized by the deliverer.  I could not track it.  I think next time I will be sure that I am buying a product made by Honeywell not just one that will "fit" my humidifier.

Not a good fit

This is the wrong filter for the humidifier I purchased. It was pictured with the humidifier and made to look like the replacement. After receiving both via online order, that is when I found out and then had to return filter to store. The store didn't have the right filter (Filter E) and I had to order online from the manufacturer.
