I purchased the Hot Dots Jr. Princess Fairy Tales book as a Christmas gift for my two nieces. They are both obsessed with princesses, so they loved it! They are 2 and 3 years old and were both able to operate the interactive part of the book (being the wand and locating the dots in order to be read to.) They did have to be shown how to do so, but picked up on it quickly. These books kept their interest longer than their regular books. One of my nieces does not enjoy reading at all, so I was very happy to see this keep her interest. I can see them still being interested in these books up until Kindergarten or First grade. I do wish the mic would have come with batteries. We did have to run to the store to get some. But for the price and entertainment, can't beat it! I would 100% recommend this book! Great book to grow with! (Also, I am a kindergarten teacher and think this would be a great way to “hook” non readers into loving reading!) Can't wait to purchase more of these books for my family and my classroom!

As a preschool teacher, my girls LOVED this! They all wanted a turn with the princess wand and loved the stories. I wish there was a little more reading activity with the wand since most of my kids aren't reading on their own yet but it is still a fun and interactive way to introduce young children to reading!

Great for young girls!

Our 3-year-old got this as a gift and was entranced by the stories even without the pen. We probably read the "Princess and the Pea" 532 times in the first week we had this set. It's nice that it's a toy that will grow with her and be of interest even longer with the addition of the pen. We had previously purchased this for a princess-obsessed younger relative who also enjoyed it.

Engaging for kids as young as 3

The princess "wand" pen is my daughters favorite part. She loves all the story books and how interactive they are. Not only does it help her work on her reading skills but it is also teaching her other stills like how to use the pen, problem solving, and the basics of how a story works. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with small children. It is one of my kids' favorite things to "play" with and its educational. Perfect for your Princess in Training

My 4 year old loves this set! She is crazy about princesses and loves when I read the stories to her. I love that she is engaged and learning math and reading skills. The best part is that she doesn't even know that she's learning. It's just fun to her. My son always want to read with us and they take turns using the magic wand. That is their favorite part.

Fabulous Reading Set

Even my 5 year old twin boys love the Hot Dot's Jr Princess Fairy Tales set! I received the Hot Dot's Jr Princess Fairy Tales set to review in my Pre-K classroom but before I could even put it in my bag to take to school, my boys INSISTED that we open it and interact with it. I must say, my boys really enjoyed the stories that the set contained; Rapunzel, The Frog Prince, The Princess and the Pea, and The Twelve Dancing Princesses. The stories do need to be read aloud to them but as you read along, the children are to be encouraged to answer the questions that are on each page. The children answer using the interactive wand and listen as it provides instant feedback. The wand flashes, talks, and plays music! I am very pleased with the quality of the box. It is very durable and has a strong handle allowing it to be carried and stacked by the kiddos without getting easily destroyed. The four books are also durable and laminated. They are very nicely laid out with colorful pages! I would definitely recommend this set, along with all of the other Hot Dots Jr sets. You will NOT be disappointed!

Even my boys loved this set!

I received this Hot Dots product from Educational Insights to conduct a review. All opinions of this product are my own. My daughter loves books. She will spend hours sitting down with a book in front of her looking at the pictures and trying to read all of the words or having me read to her. That being said I love sets that allow her to be interactive with her books. Hot Dots Jr. Princess Fairy Tales combined my daughter's love of books with my love of interaction with the story. In this set there are four- 24 page stories for children to read. Each book has eleven learning activities. The stories included are Rapunzel, The Princess and the Pea, The Princess and the Frog, and the Twelve Dancing Princesses. I think that it is so great that these books include less classic stories for children to enjoy. I love that if I am busy for a bit my daughter can take her time looking through these books and enjoying activities as she does. I would high recommend Hot Dots products!

Perfect princess books for my princess!

My daughter loves everything princess, so I was excited to give her the Hot Dots, Jr. Princess Fairy Tales collection. I am so happy I did. She is only beginning to read, but she loves to look at the pictures and tell herself the stories. Even though she can't read the questions on each page, she has figured out what to look for. She can now answer the questions by herself. The talking pen tells if she is right or wrong with either words, music, sounds or a combination. The box itself is quite sturdy and she loves carrying around the pen and the books to every room in the house. I never dreamed that this set would provide so many hours of creative play while allowing her to develop pre-reading skills at the same time.

Great for Pre-Readers

I bought this because my daughter loves books and wanted to help her develop some independence and problem solving techniques but the pen doesn't work....everything the pen touches turns the light green and says "magical answer!"....all the dots...I even tried my hand and it always says it's correct. I even went to the book to re-read the instructions and tried changing the batteries but the pen doesn't change....I'm VERYYYY dissapointed! I was hoping this would be my daughter's new favorite learning toy...but I guess it's just another lame toy...
