This toy is suggested 4 years old and up. Assembly wise would probably need a teenager of 10 years old and up or an adult's help to put it together. In terms of playing it, even my 3 years old son can play it. Previously owning Hot Wheel track toys would help but not really necessary. I really like how dynamic it is. You pretty much can set the tracks any way you want it. Either can make the cars go around the 360 degree loops or racing two cars side by side. Both of my boys (one is 3 and one is 4) had hours of fun. The set came with a booster station (battery required) which shoots car out so it's not just a plain race track. If they start getting bored of it, I can just take it apart and then it's another set of toy again. Would definitely recommend.

Great toy! Very dynamic and lots of fun!

This is a great Hot Wheels track, all the kids big and small love it...kept them busy for hours playing with and designing the track, you can also add extra track if you want to extend it, excellent gift for anyone whose children are into Hot Wheels.

Hours of fun

We got this set for my seven-year-old son. He is a typical boy with sisters he sometimes just wants a toy that is all his. We saw this set and I was a little bit worried he was too old for hot wheels. On opening the set he was Mesmerised and played with it more creatively that the existing sets he had 2-3 years. It was less about how far a car flies (and interest drains in 10 mins) and more about reading the instructions, the varying set ups and then understand the velocity and pressure impacts to ensuring why the car stays in place.

I had great fun working with him on this and it was amazing 121 time.

Had and amazing time playing with my 5 year old son, this track is super entertaining, fun and easy. It is great gift idea! Wish I had a camera to show you it's worth it! Love the colors, quality and has a great size. Every little boy should have one!!

Amazing track

Great excitement when connecting track and finding batteries then all action with cars catapulting full circle in the air before another turbo boost takes it to another loop releasing the boulders onto the track with a dramatic finally through a wall of flames. Played with repeatedly and the fun continued by connected to another hot wheels set. We have left the track built up in another room as it can be a bit noisy.

Hot fun

Lots of parts to encourage rearranging the tracks in a different way every time. The switch on boosters allows them to rotate forward or backwards, letting the cars travel in either direction. Parts are easy to put together but a 3 year old might need adult help, especially with assembling the loops. It should be fine for 4 year olds. Requires 4 "C" batteries which might be less readily available than the more common "AA" or "AAA" batteries but if you have a lot of children toys then you might already have some lying around at home. The falling boulders are a fun touch.

Fun & creativity inducing

Hot wheels track is a toy fun for all ages. I have to say that the instructions are not so clear or easy to follow but you can build the track with the image on the box or just create one. I think the way that the track ''clip'' together is innovative, easy and practicle. I still had to help my 10 years old daughter to create one. I have found two negatives point but thats is my opinion. First, as you may already know, the build track takes a lot of spaces. Second negative point, and I think is the worst, is that you will need 4 ''C'' batteries to activate the turbo and when its on, its really, really noisy... The good point is that you can use the track without it.

innovative

We've had this for 2 weeks so far. My 3 yr old son loves it. I'd say it takes about 10-15 mins to set up once you get the hang of interlocking the pieces.It's larger than I thought and works with pretty much every other hotwheels car my son already has. Overall a great present, he loves playing with it with or without the batteries on. Great starter pack into the hotwheels world.

Great hotwheels starter.

My recently turned 5 year old loves the experience the track provides. He can easily manage setting up the course to race his cars and determine which ones in his collection work with the track. Original course assembly definitely requires adult assistance but older aged kids should manage with limited assistance. The newly modified track connectors for 2014 (according to the packaging) make assembly and course redesign easy to use.

Great Race Track Adventure

This track was great fun. We found it was less noisy than some of the other hot wheels tracks that use the motorised functions. 
My boys (aged 6 & 2) both enjoyed playing with it. It was straightforward for me to fit together and it stayed together well once connected (even with a destructive 2 year old!)
The only negative would be that the rocks/balls don't stay on easily, even with the latch up to keep them in place. Other than that, good toy!

Good fun

We purchased several Hot Wheels Track Builder sets and accessories for Christmas. The Total Turbo Takeover was a total waste of money. The double speed booster in this set did not have enough power to get the car that came with the set through even one of the loops. The speed boosters that are sold separately work much better.
