Cuts steel good. The exact material of the steel is whatever steel they use for CO2 bike inflators. I needed to expand the inner diameter from .765" into .8" and that is what it cut. Bought this because my other bit had a 1/2" shank that wouldn't fit into my drill and needed to use a 3/8" shank. This is the best bit I know of at this price, and better than $10 dollar Amazon bits. The price of this bit is only $7.25.

Very surprised at the quality of this "unibit" tool. Had several over the years and paid a LOT more for them but this one was as good or better and a fraction of the cost. Only drawback, it had to come by slow boat. Worth it though. Buy TWO!

I purchased this bit to drill holes in a metal 55 gallon drum that I was making into a burn barrel on the ranch and I need it some ventilation hole this bit worked perfect 
just what I need it for the job that I wanted to do

this little tool worked great for my project. I had a single hole sink and needed to make it a three hole, it took some work because stainless steel is very hard to cut through but it got the job done perfectly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just for fun I priced this same item available from other sources and none were competitively and reasonably priced as was Walmart's offering. I'd be foolish to buy this elsewhere and I didn't even need to leave my house.

If you need a specifically sized hole, this is the drill bit you need. Works well on plastic and metal, not so well on wood. Also, as a size note, you will need to drill a pilot hote with a regular drill bit, because this one won't be able to make that intial penetration of the material on its own.

I ordered this step drill bit to enlarge the hole for the igniter to install a new igniter on my Charbroil Performance grill and it easily drilled the hole out to make it a little larger with no issues.  I'd recommend it for enlarging holes in thinner metal since it did so well with enlarging the hole on my drill making the installation of the new igniter easy and now the grill is up and functioning.

These are nice. You only need one but for a variety of sizes. Drills many different sized holes through wood or sheet metal with no resistance.
