Ease Of Installation

I am an IT Professional and needed an easy to use KVM switch for a client.

For those who don't know what that means, K (Keyboard) V (Video/Monitor) M (Mouse) switches allow you to control 2 or more computers/devices WITHOUT having to have multiple Keyboards, Monitors (Video) or Mice.

I have a security DVR and 2 servers attached to this IOGear KVM and all 3 work perfectly. I was pleased to find a USB based (for Keyboard and Mouse) device that came as a complete kit - everything you need is actually attached to the switch.

The way you switch with this device is a button (on its own very thin cable) which I tie-wrapped to the switch for ease of use. The button's cable is long enough that I could have tie-wrapped it to the rack if I wanted to.

If you needed more length you could use extension cables for the 15 pin VGA cable(s) and USB extension cables. I did NOT need any extensions.

From here on out I'll stick with this IOGear KVM Switch.

All I can say is that this KVM switch works great, and I'm thinking about buying another one for a different computer setup.

Works Great

There is a little delay when switching, but don't let this discourage you from buying this. I worked perfect the first time. No annoying software to install, just plug it in and come ahead.

The best feature of the this switch is that it doesn't rely on the keyboard to do the switching, I has an actual button to do the work. This button is on a cord and can be mounted in a discrete location.

One thing to be aware of before purchasing is that it requires 2 USB ports per computer.

Simple and easy to use

The KVM switch is fast and easy to use with the remote.. No macros is a plus.. Anyone can use.. A great affordable product!

Product works well. Smaller than I am used to which I like. I love the finger control makes switching between systems vary easy.

Setup

Works great as I expected.  I like the 4 lights that show which computer is active on my monitor.  No guessing.  It makes my life just that much easier.  I wanted to keep my old, slow computer and my VERY old slower computer (but not their monitors) because of the software installed on them,   No sense buying the same software twice.  It's bad enough having to "rent" Office 365.  Grrrrrrrr.  And I disabled the "check for Windows updates" option to protect them all.  So, needing all three computers, I purchased this 4-Port USB KVM switch cable.  Problem solved.  You need to place it where you can see the indicator lights because when you shut down for the night and turn everything on the next morning, the switch resets to the default position.  No problem, I just have to toggle through the switch positions to the one I want.  This is a really great product, and I'm thankful to have it.

This gadget is a dream come true. I am in the process of launching an Internet radio station and this KVM switch is the perfect upgrade to the 2 port one that I had. It links and operates my 4 computers seamlessly.

Awesome

I have had a trendnet 2 port in the past so I may just be dependent on its features. The IO Gear seemed to meet the needs when ordering and was a great price. The one piece design seemed nice but I was only using 2 cables and the other 2 were just in the way. The push button switch was handy as it could be close by but it would traverse all ports even if not connected to anything. All those negatives aside as I could eventually get used to them there was one that I could not. When switching computers, the IOGear would not maintain a connection and since I use 2 monitors per computer, my computers were constantly changing my monitor setup. For me the trendnet was better, $10 more solved the monitor problem and the other minor ones.
