[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased two, two-packs of these flat stainless steel ice packs to use at a baby shower I recently had for my niece. 
Though held indoors, I'm wary of leaving things like potato salad, coleslaw, chicken salad and dips sitting out for longer periods of time. 
As they sit out, naturally, the frozen ice packs do produce water condensation, so I put each on a heavy fabric woven trivet so the water could be absorbed. 
The dishes stayed cold for a couple of hours, which was perfect for the shower. 
Since then, I have taken them to family gatherings, where I have brought similar cold, mayonnaise-based items. They keep everything at the needed temperature and have worked well each time. 
I have also used them, in addition to traditional blue ice packs, in coolers. They stay nice and cold in an insulated cooler. I would think these would be good for school lunch coolers too. The slim profile takes up such little space.
These are great, but just note that they do thaw out much faster than traditional blue-ice and produce a good bit of condensation as they thaw. If left out for too long, these ice packs will just be water-filled, but can easily refreeze when needed.
