​The Barbie Inspiring Women Series pays tribute to incredible heroines of their time; courageous women who took risks, changed rules and paved the way for generations of girls to dream bigger than ever before. Despite being born into slavery in 1862, Ida B. Wells became a pioneering journalist and outspoken activist for civil rights and women's suffrage. She co-owned and edited a Memphis newspaper where she courageously wrote about inequality affecting African-Americans. In addition, Wells (later known as Wells-Barnett) co-founded the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Sculpted to her likeness and wearing a traditional blue dress with lace details, this collectible Barbie doll honors Ida B. Wells' courageous activism and remarkable accomplishments. The Ida B Wells Collectible Doll is beautiful and the attention to detail is great!  The doll's coloring is good, which is a plus because Mattel has been hit or miss in recent years with people of color dolls.  The newspaper is a nice touch, and her dress is in sync with that time period.  Love it!

It part of my history and and a conversation piece to talk about with my grandkids. and other adults to show how far we have came in life.

This is the second time I bought this stuff for my other granddaughter. I really really liked it a lot. I think everybody should get one.

She looks similar to the person. The dress looks and is made beautiful. The face details are very realistic. I would definitely recommend this product

Nice piece of art

This doll is historic, incredibly well made (made to move), but has the most well-tailored clothing I have seen Mattel make in ages. Her boots are both timeless and period correct. Spectacular!

Power of the Press

this Barbie represents an important  historical  figure. Ida B Wells was the first black journalist and was vital to the civil rights movement. My granddaughter saw her advertised and wanted her. She is going to be so happy when she sees her on Christmas  morning.

First, I am thrilled that Barbie/Mattel has stepped up! I applaud their efforts, commitment and achievements! The entire line of Aspiring Women is a delight and long awaited.

Great concept, the box is well designed, good choice of inspirational figure. The dress is high quality, with the plastic it comes in you can easily pose her with the newspaper prop, the stand works and keeps her upright even if you move it or a cat bumps into it. 
Personally I got this item on sale so it doesn't bother me, but the printed on hairline doesn't go all the way back to the real hair so you can see a gap of skin tone, as well as the printed hairline being much lighter than her real hair. If I had purchased this at full price I would have been VERY disappointed so I rated it lower because it would not be $50  value. For the price I purchased this for, it was reasonable.

Good for $15 but NOT $50

Horribly packaged! I bought this, Bessie Coleman and the Rosa Parks doll with the intention of collecting them and keeping them in the box but they arrived damaged. They were shipped in the plastic envelope type packaging. Just a plain flat envelope not even the one with bubble wrap. One of them even had some of the tape part attached to the box so when I opened it, it ripped part of the box off! The Bessie Coleman was only one shipped in an actual box and it was fine. I even ordered a second Rosa Parks and same thing! Walmart really needs to be more careful with packaging these as they are collector items.
