Can provide seamless connectivity, but may experience occasional drops.

Can be strong, but also prone to failures or inconsistencies.

Can be intuitive and easy to use, but also feels flimsy in hand.

Offers restricted volume and sound mode options, affecting overall audio quality.

Can be loud, but also inconsistent or quiet in certain situations.

Bought this to replace my Bose surround because it has too many wires so got this and it has great sound and great bass highly recommended.

Packs plenty of power for our living room with high ceilings. Am sure the 3.1 and up are super good though don't think my wife would like those due to how loud it could get. This one can fill the room with sound easily, base is very good, highs very good, and of course being JBL in itself let's you know the good quality to expect. Could have better instructions with it though just came to JBL site and downloaded then. Setup very easy, and up and going in under 5 minutes. First connect to the tv takes several seconds before heard sound, though just on initial setup. Very happy with it and when comes to audio it is hard to beat JBL.

Pretty good

jbl.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From my own experience, no matter how nice your TV is, the TV speakers are never good enough because they just cannot pack enough bass into a flat screen TV. This is why you need at least a soundbar and a sub. The JBL 2.1 soundbar offers a wireless subwoofer so you can place it anywhere in the room which gives you a clean setup without too many hanging cables.
Setup was a breeze. Since the TV was already wall mounted, I've decided to mount the soundbar as well. The package comes with a wall-mounting kit. To mount the soundbar you'll need to drill 2 small holes that are 27.5 inches apart and use the included kit to complete the setup.
The soundbar came with an HDMI cable but since my TV does not have an HDMI out I ended up using my own Optical cable.
Plugged in the power cord and Optical cable and change the input to PCM to use the Optical connection, hit the pair button on the back of the sub and it was good to go. I particularly like the remote. It has some weight to it and just feels right in your hand.
The JBL 2.1 soundbar gives you clean sound and deep bass you dont get from your TV speakers.

small package - BIG SOUND

Excellent product! Have been using for 1.5 weeks now and has changed my viewing experience. Much enhanced sound vs normal tv.
In terms appearance it looks very smart although the pure black may not go as well with some of the more recent released tvs where the trend seems to have moved back to silver! Please note this is bigger than some of its peers but fine for me as I have a suitably sized tv stand.
The soundbar needs to be connected to the sub for full and to be honest, if you won't do this, this isn't the product for you. Luckily pairing has been relatively hassle free and therefore I always do.
Overall I would definitely recommend. The design is nice and looks great, albeit big. But the big factor for me is that in terms of value for money vs. other bars I've seen, this wins hands down.

Excellent

Decent performance for the price
Having used the JBL Bar 2.1 for a few weeks now, I am reasonably pleased with it. I currently have a 5.1 system and a more expensive soundbar, so I don't have much comparison in this price range. The JBL bar is well specced for its price, there are plenty of inputs and having HDMI Arc is always great. While it doesn't have WiFi and streaming like some more expensive brands the Bluetooth is more than adequate for most cases. Setting up the JBL Bar was extremely easy, just plug it in and away you go. Selecting your inputs is quite straightforward, and the remote control is simple and easy to use. The soundbar is a decent size, slightly longer than the 40” screen I tried it out on. The subwoofer is quite small as far as subs go, and thanks to the wireless connection you can tuck it away in the corner. The main selling point for me was the included sub.woofer, my other soundbar lacks it, and while the mids and highs sound fantastic, it just lacks that oomph a subwoofer provides. I did find I had to turn the bass up a bit to get it to my liking, but once I did the bass in movies and the TV was just about right. Unfortunately the mids and highs are not as good as my other soundbar (which costs twice as much), it can be a little tinny and harsh sometimes, but in general, it is decent and a massive upgrade to the TV speakers. While the mids and highs can be a little harsh I actually prefer this system based on the price and the decent bass performance.

Decent performance for the price

Great clarity and bass. My kids use it for Just Dance and other Ps4 games as well as TV and movies. Uses HDMI or optical to connect to TV. I love the readout on the bar itself.
I keep having audio sync issues though. The sound is behind the mouth moving. I must enable and disable my TV sound sync to fix it. It's either a software issue or the bar is fighting with my LG 4K TV sync since both the bar and the TV have sync options.
Bottom line though is that it sounds really really good and hearing surround from a bar under the TV is really a trip!

Amazing sound

harmanaudio.nl

Great value for money especially seen as it comes with the subwoofer included. Works really well with other speakers in the JBL range and the app is really useful too. The only negative I would say is the one I received came with an EU plug so I had to get a UK adapter, easily solved though. The sound quality is great and for the price it definitely stands out compared to other brands on the market.

Great Value for Money

Kris

The thing sounds great BUT it has the sound cut-out issue that quite a few other reviewers have also posted. Quoting from one of them:

"All settings have been done properly and connect them with my Samsung TV yet when on youtube, netflix or play station the kit stops working for few seconds - displays PCM - and lose sound up to 5 seconds when you go through the main menu of any app."

This is annoying, especially in games when you would pause for a second, and then you get "PCM" displayed and miss the first sounds when you resume. For a specific example going through the inventory in Zelda: Breath of the Wild results in a flashing "PCM" text with no sound at all. The game would make a sound each time you move onto the next item in the inventory.

JBL do you get this? This should be an easy fix via firmware update.

Sound cut-out, "PCM flashing"

Kay D.

I have had this sound bar for approximately 2-3 weeks now and have been making the most of it. I have used it for watching movies, regular tv and most recently listening to music. I find that the product produces a crystal clear sound with very little distortion and the bass from the sub woofer it brilliant.

I like how a number of devices can be connected to the subwoofer and at the moment I have my PlayStation 4 and my virgin TiVo box connected. I have the TiVo box connected via HDMI and the PlayStation via the optical input. I found the product has a slight problem with HDMI from the TiVo box and doesn't always register it first time. To remedy this I have to turn the TiVo box on and off and then re-select the source via the product.

Overall in my opinion this is a great product at a great price and I would recommend to anybody who hasn't space for a full surround sound system. In my opinion the sound given from the 2.1 system is just as good as a full surround sound system with limited space.

My only concern with this system is that the remote feels a little light and flimsy and I feel with a little drop could break and become usable quite easily. I feel this could be made more sturdy and robust to prevent this given the price of the system.

Superb sound quality

Chastine at Customer Support

The sound bar is great, except the one problem that many people have complained about. When the sound input is quiet for a short time, the soundbar “turns off/sleeps”, then takes a second to wake back up after it detects sound playing again. When it wakes back up it displays PCM or DOLBY on the soundbar, and it will miss a slight bit of sound from the input. It gets really annoying. Add me to the ever growing list of people begging JBL for a firmware update to fix this.
