Additionally, the virtually maintenance-free semi-gloss Varnique finish perfectly complements the beautiful wood. With the smooth countertop, you can simply enjoy typical food prep and wipe clean with soap and water whenever you deem necessary. No regular oiling necessary. 

While the Varnique finish is food-safe and protective of the countertop, it is not intended to be used as a cutting board surface. Cuts in the Varnique finish should be sealed immediately to prevent exposed wood from absorbing moisture.
