I took the Elixir on a multi day hike through some of Utah's wildest terrain and they did what any good shoe should do: they became unnoticeable. As the desert took me through mud, sand, and stone, the Elixirs did their job by keeping my feet happy, and dry.

Funny thing; I've heard about Salomon but didn't really know much about this brand. Mind you; I have a hiking trip maybe only every three years or so. This year we're going to Peru and my old boots I wore to hike through China and Switzerland would probably not hold up in 2023. So I thought; I want these boots I'm wearing in Peru to be the best of the best! But how do I find the best boots in the market? Well, on Oprah's instagram I realized she hiked with Salomon boots and I thought; THAT'S IT! I literally got the Elixir boots because it was their latest release and most importantly; the very few reviews I found said they were SUPER comfortable! And indeed they were! I also think they're beautiful; I definitely wanted to wear stylish boots to hike as well and these are stylish for sure! I did have to switch to a 9.5 from a 10 but that's my fault, maybe they run a bit large? Keep in mind; they don't do exchanges, only returns for full refunds so I had to return it (they issued me a shipping label), get the refund on its way and meanwhile buy a new one with the right size. I used a promo code when purchasing the wrong size so I called customer serviced and they reissued my now expired coupon for me to purchase the new pair! FANTASTIC customer service, cool points program too, I'll be buying more gear from them in the future!

If Oprah wears it...

I wore these shoes all the way to Everest Base Camp — over 40+ miles of rugged trails — and they performed exceptionally well. Extremely comfortable right out of the box. Great grip, waterproofing, and support throughout long trekking days. Highly recommend for anyone looking for reliable and comfortable hiking shoes for multi-day treks or rough terrain.

Wore these shoes all the way to Everest Base Camp

I took these bad boys straight out the box and took them to the Mountains with me. Some varying terrain and end result after a week, no blisters or hotspots, just a happy person wearing some great boots, thank you Salomon.

So light and comfy

I had bought a pair Elixir low cut shoes with serious “rocker”, which quickly became my go to shoes, then recently ordered directly a pair of mid cut boots for moe gnarly hiking and they are now my go to boots

Have always liked Salomon shoes, but Love Elixirs

Comfortable right out of the box (as they should be $$$). First day in the rain (drizzle) and one of the shoe's wetted out. Don't buy these if you want dry feet, you've been warned!

Not waterproof

I took these shoes out on a 3 day trip in Utah and overall they were great. The rocker arch support was very comfortable to walk in. I didn't feel like they had to be broken in at all and they didn't give me any issues with blisters. The toe box does run on the narrower side and by the end of the trip by pinky toes felt squeezed. They were quite warm, especially hiking in Utah. I wouldn't recommend them for any dead of summer hiking but anywhere in cooler temps or even with snow they would excel.

Solid choice for cooler hiking conditions

Shoes look great and extremely comfortable. Good fit and walk well. However after putting my foot into the right show the very first time, the foot pad (not sure what technical term is) shifted.

This is very concerning as it bunches up now and is a pain.

Durability is a suspect

I wanted to like these boots. There wasn't any break in period, very comfortable- like running shoes on steroids. BUT in my opinion the tongue has way too much padding- I know that might sound odd. But what happens is since the tongue is so thick it can not properly stay in place - it immediately just sticks out which makes the padding not effective at all PLUS it make the boots far less supportive. I had to return them for this reason. Even the Salomon trail shoes I got years ago the tongue does the exact same thing. Because of this issue I hardly wear them. I was hoping these new boots would be better unfortunately they were not. I have been and hiking and backpacking all my life - virtually over 40 years. In that time backpacking all over the US. Over the years extensive experience with many different style boots. Hope this is helpful for anyone looking at these.

Desire flaw

the Gortex on these boots is shocking and tore quickly against the seem, very disappointing and I suggest no one else makes the mistake I did.
