This is the best primer when painting old mahogany or dark woods that bleed through with tannins. I used two primers before this and always had bleed through, but this primer covered on the first coat, I did use two coats because it's a bit thin. Would highly recommend for bleed through and blocking stains.

I bought a gallon of Kilz Premium 3 to cover all the stains before I painted and it worked wonderfully! After reading all the surfaces it would prime and seal, I bought another gallon to restore my vintage metal patio set and 50's outdoor rocker/bouncer chairs. Old farmhouse and I'm debating on leaving the closet chippy so I primed around those areas and just cleaned until I make up my mind. This product is excellent! Highly recommend!

Perfect for textured walls so you don't have to slather on multiple coats to get the job done. Dries fast and walls have a smooth finish! If you want a primer that actually does its job the first time, this is it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had a hard winter.  In my husbands office brown staining showed up on the ceiling.  It looked awful.  Kilz to the rescue...my husband sprayed the affected areas...looks brand new!

Solved the problem!

I paid more for the  Kilz 3 but it took two full coats to cover the green I started with. It's a good product and super easy to apply. The second coat really looks great but I thought it would cover in one coat. A LOT of work. I don't know if there really is a difference in the 1, 2, or 3. It cost me about a hundred bucks to primer a small bathroom.

Worth it?

I painted over the same water stains 4x. Each time it seemed to cover them but each time that it dried completely the stains were still there. Beyond frustrating as I have always used and trusted this brand.
