Morning Coffee Convenience

Fails to stay open during filling, causing inconvenience.

I look forward to using this coffee maker every morning and it never disappoints. Some owners complain about pouring in the water...some say poring from the pot is clumsy, some say they have trouble seeing the water level on the right side, etc. I solved the problem for the three cups I make every morning...I use a pasta sauce jar that has ounce marks on the side...16 oz of water makes exactly three cups. Problems solved!

Really Nice Small Coffee Maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This small coffee maker is a great choice for those with limited space. Its reusable plastic filter is environmentally friendly, saving both money and waste. Simple, efficient, and perfect for daily use.

Compact and efficient

My wife & I LOVE our Krups Simply Brew 5 Cup Coffee Maker...just right for 2 mugs of coffee in the morning! Easy to use, quick to clean up...and GREAT tasting fresh-brewed coffee! Now we aren't rinsing 5 or 6 cups of coffee down the drain! Would love to purchase a spare & buy a couple for our in-laws; unfortunately, can't find more of 'em ANYWHERE!!

Fabulous little coffee maker!

Dear Krups Coffee Maker,

I wake up every morning and still get excited to brew coffee with you. You're such a sturdy, reliable object and have never once failed me. I worry about my addiction to caffeine though - I can't remember the last time I didn't have coffee in the morning. I read a book once about the history of coffee and it's effects and it does give us momentary feelings of pleasure after the first few sips. Apparently Balzac drank 50 cups a day. The rise of coffee intake coincides with the industrial revolution I believe - a tool that helps us become better worker units - a better standing reserve of labor/ production. Imagine a world without the need for it. Anyway - thanks Krups for making reasonably priced, reliable products that help me establish a daily ritual that feels important.

My constant friend

We have had this Krups KM202 5-cup coffee maker for about two years, now, used daily. Easy to fill, easy to clean, with a nice stop-and-pour feature to grab a cuppa while still brewing. The top of the carafe pops off to facilitate easy cleaning. Coffee stays warm for at least twenty minutes, not too hot; no auto-turn-off, as far as I know. Only detractor is that the water-level window is only on the right-side and is hard to gauge, in our kitchen setup; we have to stand over it and look down into the reservoir to see how full it is.

Very nice, simple coffee maker

I received this coffee maker as a gift for my birthday a week and a half ago. It is the perfect size for me as a single person. The coffee is great and nice and hot but the only complaint I have is that the lid will not stay up when you're either trying to fill the coffee maker with water or with coffee grounds. You have to manually hold the lid open to pour the water in and then also hold it open while trying to scoop coffee grounds into the filter basket. I have seen other reviews which state the same problem occurring so it is probably a design flaw

Great but lid will not stay up

First, I have been a very satisfied customer when it came to the 4 cup makers, I have kept a few going for 30 years, until it was difficult, or cost prohibitive, to get the carafes. I purchased the 5 cup thinking it would be just as good, or better, because it makes 5 cups instead, not so. Now to the issues, the carafe and the resevoir design.

The carafe is so rounded at the top that in order to pour all of the "measured" water into the resevoir the carafe has to be tipped almost to the point that it is upside down, usually resulting in water pouring into the filter funnel or down the sides of the unit. That happens for two reasons, the curvature of the top of the carafe and the area available to pour the water, which only seems to be from the side.. The lip of the carafe is also short and curved in a way that one has to hook the lip onto the rim of the cup to keep water from traveling under the lip, down the side, and off onto the counter. If there is something that I am doing wrong, I am open to feedback.

Disappointed in two of the features of the KM202

The top won't stay up. You have to hold it open with one hand and pour water with the other. You have get a scoop of coffee, put the bag down carefully so it doesn't fall over, and then open the lid to put the coffee in.
And there's no auto-shutoff.

Needs three hands.

This good looking little coffee maker worked for a bout a week . Then for no reason whatsoever, the water started spilling from the drip all over the pot and on the counter. Same amount of water (2 cups) as before. So, I guess you get what you pay for, but frankly one would expect better from Krups. Be warned before you consider buying it.

Looks good but...
