[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this as more of a collectible item than a tool, but it feels awesome in your hand! There are others I would choose to use first to camp or bushcraft with, but if things ever go bad I'm glad to have this in the safe.

Big and Bad!

Im not sure if Im meant to be reviewing the item or the seller, but here goes. 

The seller was great. The knife could have been packaged with a little more protection, but that is a very small complaint. 

The knife itself is quite good. US made, attractive, offered by a reputable company. The leather sheath is handsome, matches the knife well, and is entirely adequate for carrying the knife. The rubber handle offers a good grip. 

The only shortcoming of the knife is in finding a niche that it fills. This is clearly an outdoor/survival/tactics knife. It is not entirely suited to be a kitchen knife or a filet knife for fishing. 

As a tactical knife, it might be seen to serve best as a fighting knife, and indeed it would make a dandy fighting knife, but to my mind, the serrations on the back suit it more to use as a survival/ bushcraft knife,   Those serrations do not add much utility for fighting.

So..... I tend to evaluate this as a survival knife. It has size and strength that make it suitable for chopping wood and prying. The serrations can act as a saw, which may or may not ever come in handy. As a camp knife, it should handle any cooking job well, serving as an outdoor Chef's knife. The biggest problem I see with this as a cooking knife is in getting it thoroughly clean. The gaps in the hilt would hold bacteria. But it should chop vegetables beautifully. 

The biggest reason though, to carry such a big knife in the outdoors is for chopping wood. You get a knife and a hatchet in one. I bought one of these years ago when they debuted, and they chop wood very nicely. My biggest concern is the thin tang. The Kabar USMC fighting knives have long been known to have weak tangs, and the big brother knife seems to have a similar tang.  

I can only say that mine have held up well, and that Google searches regarding damaged kabar tangs do not reveal any information about people breaking or bending the big brother tangs. That phenomenon seems to be confined to the regular sized USMC knife. 

TL;DR: good knife, good price. You'll probably like it a lot.

A very good US made survival knife

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very nice knife. It's massive. The good folks of Olean NY did a great job making it. It's sharp enough to shave with and is incredibly sturdy. It's a must have for any collector.

Extremely practical no pragmatic.

This is a Great Hunting Knife. Sharp enough to shave with out of the box.
