I love this ukulele...I love how the colors are marked on the fretboard to be able to learn the 4 chords of g,f,c,am....and the grandkids are learning colors and matching so it helps them to connect it together...hopefully they will learn and remember the chords as well..NOTE: to help things along...the strings when you first take the ukulele out of the box are not in tune and also the strings MUST BE STRETCHED for the first few days till they stay in tune..all strings are like that when you first get them..it isn't a flaw ..its a fact..so newbies..DON't GIVE UP! also the action on the 1st 2nd and 3rd frets aren't super low..but it is functional..as you go up the fretboard the action gets higher..But this ukulele is great for the pool, use it as a boat oar if you can't play it..yet is won't harm it like a wood ukulele...if you want a uke that has a better action and won't be built like a tank..then don't buy this but if you want a uke built like a tank and is playable at the campground,travel, water,beach etc...This is a good ukulele for a first uke...As you learn to play up the neck after the 4th fret and up..get a different uke..All in all I love it for a 1st uke..and the kids put sticker from the dollar store and their names on it..LOVE IT! Good gift

As a beginner interested in learning how to play an ukulele without investing much, I chose this Kala option after a bit of research.  The quality is ok for the price and it does the job.  It comes with a toting bag and a simple booklet with some instructions.  It is difficult to tune properly and does feels like a toy.  I didn't download the suggested Kala app as it is only free for a certain period and then you need to pay.
