The soapstone is amazing it felt smooth like marble when it first arrived. It had small chips on the flat edge and corners but I imagine I'll probably add to those chips eventually. It holds heat great so even when your searing and you flip your steak over the same spot you were cooking it still has enough heat to sear the other side. It washes just fine, it really is easy. Kamado Joe grills have continued to surprise me. I can't say that I have much to complain about. I also have their pizza attachment and I love that as well.

Soapstone is my favorite Kamado accessory.
Awesome for searing and food does not stick to it. Incredible.
Need to handle with care to not break it, though.

I live it. Cooked scallops and mushroo m s on it the other day.

Cooking using soapstone

Only used it twice, once for salmon and once for smashburgers. The burger were the best my family has ever had and the kids are 20 yrs old. Aaaamazzing, so juicy, unbelievable. Not sticking, nothing. Worth the money just for burgers plus they are pretty. Just buy it, promise. Sorry, did not take photos

It's terrific!

So far real happy with my soapstone. I've used it for salmon a handful of times now and it comes out excellent. The skin has a real nice crisp to it and the fish cooks evenly. I'm looking forward to cooking scallops and searing some steak on it. I would certainly recommend this product and am eager to try some other things on it. Thanks Kamado Joe

Great Product

Once you start cooking on this you will wounder why you waited so long to buy one. Sear salmon and steaks in a flash. Nice even crust, no cold spots, stays hot for multiple steaks. Toss out your cast iron.

Excellent Soapstone Seari g!!

After debating purchasing the soapstone, I decided to go ahead and treat myself, and I am thankful that I did. This this is awesome, very well made and simple to use. You need to season it first like cast iron, but I'm my opinion it works better than cast iron. This thing holds heat very well, the only drawback is that it may become fragile after a lot of cooks , or too hot of temperature.

Excellent Accessory

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you get only one accessory from any kamado company, this is it. I like using it for indirect cooking, and then it's hot and ready for a reverse sear at the end, or for cooking the best naan you've ever made. Mine has chips and hairline cracks, but does not appear to affect anything and it's holding up.

Must have accessory for kamado cookers

My first use of the soapstone was for New Year's Day supper.  Slow cooked two small pork tenderloins.  I've never had better.  Cooked on low temperature and took no time at all.  Clean-up was a breeze.  Looking forward to many more meals using the soapstone.  Kamado Joe is an excellent cooking machine as an over or open flame, smoking or grilling.

Soapstone, a solid choice

Honestly - really disappointed with this.  It cracked right down the middle within the first week I had it.  I had read reviews saying that these were brittle, but this is ridiculous.  I went with soapstone over the Karbon Steel because I didn't want to deal with cast iron maintenance, but I guess between the two I'd choose Karbon Steel in hindsight.
