I got this stool/chair for my niece's 2nd birthday. It's sturdy and she loved it! My 21-month old also loved it so she will be getting one for her 2nd birthday. You can paint any color you wish or leave as is.

I was concerned this would be weak but it is sturdy.  I liked putting it together myself, gave me a chance to use wood glue to reinforce the screws and dowels.  It is made of nice hardwood, I got the natural wood.  My granddaughter loves using this stool.  The instructions were simple but exact (with pictures)

I have seen similar products for nearly twice the price. It is great quality and works very well. It is a perfect stool for my grandchild to reach the toilet or to help in the kitchen.

super stool

I have a small business and have been ordering the large flip stools directly from Kidkraft for many years. Recently, the policy was changed and I now I need to order from the website which is no big deal. I ordered two natural flip stools and two white stools. I was very surprised that the natural stools arrived unassembled. This has created challenges because I paint the stools for clients to give as baby gifts and ship them out in the boxes that I receive them in. I don't want to have the stools arrive as gift and need to be assembled. They cannot be shipped in the boxes that they arrived in. So now I have to spend additional time assembling them, then find and purchase boxes to ship the gifts out. This adds additional costs to me and my clients. It is very frustrating. When I get a chance, I'm going to look for another source for stools. This is unfortunate because the Kidkraft stools are high quality and Kidkraft has always been good if there has ever been problems. I'm not sure I will be able to find a suitable replacement.

I ordered two of these- site to store shipping and had to return one immediately before ever getting it out of the store. I had the associate open the boxes for inspection and I'm glad I did! The seat was off of one. I'm sure a little glue would have worked to secure it, but these are supposed to come pre-assembled...not assemble after shipping damage! The second looked fine - until I got it home. There was a little plastic washer missing on one side that controls the flip action. The missing piece causes the step to rub on the side each time it's flipped. This is a very cute stool and a good price...just make sure your assembly-line working wasn't asleep on the job before you take it home!

Nice product - poorly assembled

My one and only complaint about this item is that it slips easily on smooth surfaces, I had to put rubber on the bottom to stop it since the floor is hardwood. Other then that it does it's job and my kiddo(20 months) gets a kick out of it switching from a stool to a chair.

Does it's job

Found this product looking for the flip stool/seat like I had as a child. It's pretty darn close. Comes assembled (yay!) and is nice and sturdy. The bottom step/seat back flips around when you carry it if you're not careful, so watch out for bonks and pinches. My little one loves changing it back and forth, and it's a good height for the potty or bed, and ok for the bathroom sink. The step pivots on a hex bolt and nut, which loosens as it is raised and lowered repeatedly, but not hard to tighten up.

Almost like I remember

The stool in the online photo is clearly made of solid wood (based on the appearance of the edges of each piece of the stool in the photo). The stool that was delivered was made of plywood. However, it appears to be a very high quality, furniture grade, plywood and should prove to be functional and durable for a small child's use. The stool appears very well made and, surprisingly, was shipped fully assembled. Would have given it a 5 rating if it matched the photo.

Maybe I just had bad luck with this one. Did not even have it one week before the piece that acts as the bottom step or the back to the seat came apart. I got the White one, the paint in the seam started to crack and then the piece just came loose. I thought about nailing in back in. But it kind of erks me that it looks the paint was the only things holding the two pieces together. The dowels are not snug. First experience with Kidkraft products and now I am not sure they are worth the extra cost. This one goes back, even if it was a good idea. Whatever happened to sturdy wood items for kids to grow with?
