I've been coveting the Pottery Barn Pink Retro Kitchen for about two years now and just could not bring myself to pay nearly $800.00 for a toy kitchen set for my two year old daughter. That price point alone made my fiance's heart palpitate and palms sweat. It was during this holiday season (2012) that I decided enough was enough and I was either going to get it or not. Oh, how I wanted that kitchen.

I was searching on the internet for a similar kitchen set and there it was, right in front of me, at Walmart.com...the KidKraft Pink Retro Play Kitchen and Refrigerator. I got excited, my bank account smiled (and sang a little jingle) and without thinking I clicked purchase. No buyers remorse, no regrets and the kitchen looks absolutely STUNNING in our daughters bedroom.

Our daughter LOVES this kitchen. She walks around with a pencil and pad asking us what we would like to eat and then proceeds to make us grilled chicken, green beans, etc. The craftsmanship on this kitchen is outstanding. The rounded corners of the wood, plastic handles and knobs, subtle detailing and soft pink color make this kitchen a stellar addition to any child's room. The kitchen has interactive features like an adjustable shelf in the oven, knobs that turn, doors that open and close (with a click) and a removable sink for real water action...not that that is happening anytime soon.

I'm so happy with this purchase and believe it will be in the family for years to come.

I ordered this kitchen for my 16 month old baby girl. She loves it and so does my 2 year old son and 3 year old niece. I am still improving on the kitchen. Removed the oven wood rack and installing on the right side of the stove with some shelve braces, this adds counter top space that is needed, specially if you order any of the appliances, you will need a place to put them. For the inside of the oven I will put in one of those wire rack sink protectors. they are the perfect size for it and it will look like the real thing.
I ordered a small press on light and installed inside the oven so that it is like mommys oven :). Also painted a piece of wood with chalkboard paint and attached it to one side of the fridge, perfect for notes and lists. Installed a pull drawer handle upside down right under the chalkboard to hold chalk pieces.
Still need to install a shelve under the sink as hat space is pretty tall and one shelf would add a bit more storage space.
There are some reviews out there about the kitchen being short... well when my daughter hits 4-5 years old I can always add on some short legs to the bottom of the stove sink piece and add a few more inches. This kitchen is sturdy and it will last years.

LOVE IT!!!

I looked locally to buy this in time for my daughter's birthday. And online. I found the exact same product is several online store and some costing as much 3 times the Walmart price, Non were less and 2 were the same price (but when you add in the shopping cost they were way off).

Anyway, I received the product and put it together without a hitch. All parts and very clear instructions were included. Just needed a screwdriver and about an hour.

The kitchen set is very sturdy wood. Very nice materials. It has moving handles for the faucet and stove. I was surprised at how realistic it is. My daughter loves it and plays with it almost daily.

I highly recommend it.

Excellent product

This product is heavy duty and great quality. I put together the fridge and my husband did the oven/sink combo. I don't mind that there is an open area under the oven because I put the pots in there. You can also get cute baskets to slide in and out. My daughter loves opening and closing the doors. I heard it comes in red too, which would be super cute as well. I like having the fridge separate because it gives you more options on where to put the kitchen set.

Great!

Pros:
1. It looks much like Pottery Barn's play set for a fraction of the cost.

2. Walmart is cheaper then Target. We had liked one at Target, but Target's is smaller in width than this one. Also if buying online Target doesn't have free shipping to store. Shipping alone would of been almost 50 bucks.

3. Makes noises but not loudly. This play kitchen has
3 knobs in the front that make clicking noises.

4. Nice compartments sizes. The door under the sink opens to a large space without a shelf which is a plus because wood play appliances could be stored in there or a large basket of play food.

5. It's made of wood and not plastic. All the wood is sturdy, solid and it was easy for my husband to put together.

6. HUGE hit with our 2 year old daughter and all her play date friends.

Cons:
1. Weird holes. I didn't like was there is holes the size of quarters drilled in on the back side and floor in the area below the sink in inside the compartment area. The same size holes are drilled in the very bottom area under the oven and yet again in the back areas of the refrigerator. Not really sure what the holes are for wish they were not there. But I probably still would of bought this play kitchen set because it is the best out there for the price and being real wood.

2. Plastic handles and knobs. At least their heavy duty would be extremely hard to break. I personally like metal hardware better. But its not a deal breaker.

Specific Dimensions:

Outside the sink stove part:
about 25.5 inches wide and 20.25 inches high. The back slash with the clock at it's highest point is 26.5 inches high.

The inside areas of the sink stove part:
Within the oven it's slightly over 9.5 inches high and slightly under 13 inches wide. The lower shelf is slightly over 3 inches high the top is right at 6.5 inches. The shelf area below the oven is right at 6 inches high and slightly under 13 inches wide. The are under the sink is 16 inches high and slightly over 11 inches wide.

Outside the refrigerator:
Is 29 inches high and 31 inches high on the highest point of the door.

Inside the refrigerator:
Inside the top door of the refrigerator it's a little over 15.5 high and the space is split evenly with a shelf making two compartments. The bottom door is 11 inches high.

The dept on the inside areas in all the doors of all pieces is exactly 11 inches in depth.The dept on the outside of all pieces is 12 inches.

Huge Hit! Pros, Cons, and Specific Dimensions

I love this kitchen. We bought for out 1 year old. She loves slamming the doors, and sitting in the drawer (which is not shown in the pic). It's very sturdy and solid. The oven door loosens but we just tighten it back up. The company is wonderful in replacing parts. No questions asked. We have had this kithen over a year now. So happy, great deal.

Retro Kitchen

The kitchen was delivered very quickly, was easy to assemble, and is absolutely ADORABLE. I bought it for my 4 year old for Christmas, and she's already a little too tall for it. That's the ONLY downside. The quality is amazing, it's so easy to keep clean, and my daughter just loves it. She's played with it multiple times a day, every day since Christmas morning. I love the retro look.
They had the same product at Toys R Us for $70 more than what I paid for it to be delivered to my home. So thank you for that Walmart.com.
It looks very similar to the Pottery Barn kitchen, but at about 70% less. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend this product.

ADORABLE...but little

I love the look and quality of this kitchen set. It really is beautiful. KidKraft has EXCELLENT customer service. My set was missing the back of the stove knob plastic pieces and they mailed them out to me instantly. The only negative thing is the paint smell. I was very shocked at how strong the odor was. I read many reviews before I bought it and no one mentioned the smell. It smelled VERY STRONG, like paint fumes. My daughter has asthma, so I was very concerned about putting it in her room. I aired it out in our screen room for about a week and the smell is better. I can still smell it, but much less intense. I did email KidsKraft about it and they said it is non toxic paint. So the paint is safe, just smells strong. I would have given the kitchen a 5 star rating, but the smell makes me nervous.

Beautiful Set

In order to properly put together the stove/oven/sink portion of this kitchen set, you need piece 1 AND 3. Our box contained TWO piece 1's and NO piece 3. Being it was 10:45pm on Christmas Eve, my hubbie and I spent 4 hours rigging this so our daughters would have this Christmas morning. We contacted KidKraft the next business day (26th) and they are sending us the missing piece at no charge. Until this piece is delivered, we do not have the oven door or oven shelf. Thankfully our children are 3 and 4, so they haven't noticed.

This kitchen is adorable and made of quality material. With the exception of the box missing a major piece and containing 2 identical pieces, we are very pleased with it. Our advice, DO NOT open the box and wait to build it at the last minute. We will never make that mistake again.

Piece 3 is the right side large side piece.

Love, Loved this for my little girl. But the screws on the hinges didn't last long and I kept having to tighten them up. 3 years later, I've tightened them up so much that now the screws do not stay in. Although the paint and toy knobs have held up over the years, I'm so annoyed that the hinges were a problem for us (and my daughter is not rough with playing with it!)
