I am a repeat customer of kiddie smoke detectors, In the past every 10 years I just swapped out the detectors in the same old brackets, Now with this new design you have to use the new brackets, however the holes are not in the same location as the old brackets Kidde used for years, Bad design by Kidde product designers. So instead of drilling new holes ceilings / walls, I drilled 12 new holes in 6 new brackets ( I have 6 smoke detectors) to match the existing holes, most with anchors. Easy peasy just align old bracket on top of new and mark hole locations with a small Sharpie, and then centre punch and then drill, just time consuming that I had to do that. I see that these new ones come with dust covers to use when dry walling, painting, etc. they must be very sensitive.  I hope they work as well as the older ones did and not have false alarms, it looks like you have to dust / vacuum them more often.

Sounds in the middle of the night 12 shots several times in the year the worst purchase of my life I do not recommend to anyone mine took a pier of 10 feet on the ground it does not wake me in the middle of the night
