I replaced my 47 year old tilt-head Kitchen Aid stand mixer (which still works just fine) with a new bowl-lift model.  I like some of the features of the new model - bigger bowl, handle on the bowl, slow "1/2 speed" setting.  But I was shocked and disappointed when I saw the wire whisk attachment that came with the KSM55.  It is lightweight and dull - not the heavy-duty, shiny, well-built stainless steel whisk attachment that came with my old KA mixer.  I don't expect this new one to last very long due to the obvious substandard quality and honest reviews of other users.  This attachment is not typical Kitchen Aid quality.

So disappointed in the whisk attachment as the hub has a grey, almost graphite like, "powder" residue and it is easily seen on the drying cloth.  I cannot imagine how this would be safe to ingest if it got in the food being mixed!   I noticed this years ago and have not used it since.  I miss being able to use the whisk.  I just use the beater, dough hook and other attachments.  I am afraid to buy another whisk in case it does the same.  Has anyone actually purchased this item and found this one to be fine?

Disappointed

Horrible whisk, why so many wires??  I just received my mixer last month (May 2025).   I make meringue frosting for my business and homemade marshmallows, most of it is left inside the whisk.  I have to scrape it out with the fingers because a rubber spatula can't get it all out.  I can't even bother doing that with marshmallows, they will stiffen too fast.  I might need to try the pastry beater instead.  Do you sell a more open whisk that will fit the 7qt lift bowl?

My daughter bought me this one wash and I  have gray all over my fingers.

NOT DISHWASHER SAFE

I washed my wish in the dishwasher (top shelf only) and when I went to go put it away, this black substance was all over my hand and before I was aware of it, I had black marks transfer all over my kitchen cabinets from touching them when unloading the dishes. It was only then did I go back and find what it was coming from. See the picture attached. This is unacceptable. I got this as part of a wedding registry gift with my KitchenAid mixer and it's only been used about five times.

Poor quality!

The wire whisk that came with my Pro 600 is not stainless steel, at least the base is not stainless steel.  It oxides, and every time I am ready to use it, black comes off onto my hands and not just a little.  The entire base sheds black.  I would like to be sent a new whisk that is properly coated so it does not do this.  I will post a photo showing the black that I am trying to remove with a paper towel.  This happens every time I want to use it.

I bought my stand mixer in November 2022 and was shocked that the whip was aluminum and has to be hand-washed! Why such poor quality when the other attachments are machine washable? All it took was 1 person loading the dishwasher and my shiny whip is gray and discolored!! I am so disappointed with the low quality and very surprised at KitchenAid for including it when the mixer itself is sold at a premium!!

I work in a professional kitchen and I have the kitchenaid professional that came in the box with this whip.  This whip is extremely hard to attach and I often need to grease it to get it to attach.  It works efficiently when you can actually get it on the machine, but recipes and whip time need to be adjusted to account for this whip.  I really really hate it.

Worst whip

I don't know who designed this but it wasn't a baker nor was it tested by one. I have use KitchenAid mixers for over 40 years and have always been happy. This product is useless. There are so many wires that by the time you force out egg whites they are deflated. Used it a number if times . Just does not work.

This wire whip is terrible. Not stainless steel! Every time I use it my hands get black residue all over. Why is the whip attachment not coated in white like the rest of 5e attachments?  For the price of these stand mixers we should not have to deal with that. Kitchen aid you need to come up with a better design please! I love the stand mixer however this is very frustrating.

This eleven wire wisk is perfect.  I have two KA stand mixers sitting side by side and this is the best of the risks - it has two levels of mixing ability and adds more air and achieves a mix faster than the smaller wisks.  I know that this fits onto very few KA models but if it fits yours, buy it.
