This is the 2nd replacement for this size beater. Sadly, it did the same thing the first one did. It is wearing at the bottom. It does not hit the bottom of the bowl and it is not used everyday for this kind of wear. We use a small rubber tipped spatula to remove any dough or batter that is left on the beater. We treat this beater as if it is made of glass.

Kitchen Aid

I love the mixer but after 4 years the flat beater was full of chips. I called customer service and had to order another one. I had to pay full price.

Chipped beater

I just purchased this Kitchenaid Mixer  (#K45SS) a week ago (just mailed my warranty card early yesterday) and was so excited to begin using it. I had all the ingredients for my first project ready to go. I washed all the accessories by hand, and that's when I noticed there was already a chip of paint missing on this particular beater. 



I was disappointed to be sure. Looks like I'll be needing to purchase a new beater from the start. I was making cookies this morning that are needed for later today (if I'd have had the time, I would have returned/exchanged the entire mixer)! 



Looking at all these reviews, I'm definitely not the only one. Kitchenaid - surely you can do better.

Chipped upon purchase!

I have had my Kitchen Aide mixer for a number of years and love everything about it EXCEPT the coated beater. I have replaced the beater twice, only hand wash it, and STILL the coating comes off and gets into the food. My brother found some in his mashed potatoes at a holiday gathering! It is difficult to find a replacement beater, as all of the ones in the stores are designed for newer model mixers. Please advise on how to remedy this problem.

I purchased my stand mixer because of the great reviews. However the enamel is chipping off the beater. It started chipping within a few months. I need to replace it but don't think this issue has been resolved. I now would be hesitant to recommend this product to anyone

Enamel Chipping

I bought my third beater since having my mixer.  I bought this last one almost a year ago and 6 months later, it started to chip. I never see the chips, so I pray everytime that they are not falling into my cookies and cakes. Yes, I do a lot of baking, but this paddle is disappointing.  We only wash our dishes buy hand, so its not the dishwasher tearing it up. Going to the stainless steel option and hope that one is better. Its just ridiculous that it's SO expensive.

Very displeased. Unable to use, because the enamel keeps chipping off. And I don't want someone to bite/eat a piece. I expected higher quality, considering what mixer cost me. My whip and dough hook are fine.

Enamel chipping bad

I have had my Kitchen Aid for many years and have loved it. I have had to replace the beater 3 times due to chipped paint. I am furious to learn that the paint used may have had lead in it. I have fed my 6 children the food made in this mixer their whole lives. I am more than mad. In this day and age this should NEVER happen.

"Mixed" Feelings, But Mostly Mad

I have used this less than 10 times and it started flaking off.  Is there something available that is all stainless steel?

Cannot believe that the beater is made of metal & stripping.  I cut myself washing it!

My 15 year old beater developed a chip in the enamel coating, so I needed a new one.  Im happy to say that the quality of the new one is the same high quality I expect of kitchen aid products.
