It arrived just in time for Holiday baking and fits my 5 quart Kitchen Aid mixer.  So, I am rocking and rolling.  Don't know why I didn't get this sooner.  The lid fits snugly and is a bonus.
It arrived in its own box in good condition.  I unpackaged it, cleaned it and put it to work mixing dough for a few loaves of sourdough bread.

I just got this Bowl for Christmas and when going to use i split in two almost cutting my hand open. Must have been chip or crack in it before I used it.  So disappointed in the quality.  I love my Artesian Mixer.   Would not recommend to any one since it is too dangerous.  What if glass had chipped into my bread?

I hate to give this low review… absolutely love my glass mixing bowl. Yesterday I noticed a large crack along the bottom ring. Wasn't leaking. But when I attached it back to my kitchen aid it just completely broke the bottom of and ended up shattering. 
Didnt even get my hand off it before it broke and cut me…

Only had it for about 2-3months

Loved this bowl until it shattered while mixing. It seemed small pieces went everywhere and I had to throw all my ingredients.  Creaming butter and sugar should not shatter a mixing bowl.

Buyer Beware

This is my second glass bowl, the first one was great because it had a metal base that fit into the mixer. I dropped it and it broke. I bought a replacement 5 qt glass bowl and it no longer has a metal base. It did not seem like it fit well into the bottom from the start and part of the base chipped off while I was making bread. The bowl spun around clanking on the dough hook. I am lucky the whole thing didn't shatter. It is no longer useable because the base does not lock in.

I received this as a Mother's Day gift less than a year ago and the bowl no longer locks into place because the glass tabs appear ground down.  We don't use it constantly so do not understand why it looks like this. Thankfully I kept the old silver bowl.  Very disappointing and my daughter feels awful it already is unusable.  She paid for it with money she saved and was so excited to give it to me.

You are far better off purchasing a stainless steel bowl. I've used the is product for exactly 2 years and this happened today while I was kneading dough for Cinnamon buns. It was not dense dough either. The glass shattered and could've been an extremely dangerous situation.

Considering the price of this bowl, I would've expected it to last much longer and be a lot more durable..

I have had this glass bowl for about 2 years now but have only tried to use it a couple times. I have gone back to the stainless steel bowl my mixer came with. The glass bowl seems to lock in place but then as soon as I start mixing anything it spins around and unlocks from the bottom. I have checked the bottom and it looks fine (no chips or anything) and the metal bottom of the mixer seems fine. My other bowl locks it with no issues. Very unsafe as I'm afraid it will shatter.

I loved my glass mixing bowl!  I loved it for making my sourdough bread.  However, the other day after removing my dough, I noticed a crack through the glass from the bottom around the curve of the bowl all the way to the top.  I can't think of anything that was done to cause this crack.  I bought the bowl in November and no longer have the receipt.  I'm so very sad.  And with the cost - which is reasonable for the bowl - I don't want to shell it out for a second bowl that might  have the same thing happen again especially since I'm seeing other reviews with similar experiences.  I do love KitchenAid, but I'd pass on this beautiful glass mixing bowl.
