The KitchenAid bread bowl helps making bread an ease, due to the fact that you're able to complete all the recipe steps in one bowl is worth it.  I don't know if they make this in an off brand version or not, I always have purchased the Kitchenaid brand and I have loved everything I've purchased.  I do wish they would include in the purchase easy access to video tutorials on how to use them and recipes.

I like to make bread in the winter and this bowl makes is slightly easier. You won't need another bowl to proof in and can bake on the lid if you like round bread.

I'm loving my bread bowl!  This makes producing tasty bread so simple and so much nicer than store bought bread.  I hesitated for a long time trying to justify the cost so when it was on sale at Christmas I decided to treat myself.  One step I've found makes for better rising the second time around is to wash the bowl and heat again with hot water, probably if it's warming in the house this might not be necessary but I keep my house cooler.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was advertized looking like the whole mixer when it was just a bowl, I have to come back and order the mixer, hundreds of dollars more it cost due to inaccurate description

The Good:  I'm not a good cook, but my first 5 attempts at making bread came out beautifully using this.  I used a slightly different recipe from the NYT like all the other "easiest bread recipes" you can find online.  So for that I think this is a great product.  Unfortunately the bad is a deal breaker:  The bowl and lid need to be non-stick. If you try to flour there inside of the bowl, the flour burns and sticks hard, requiring steel wool to remove, even after soaking overnight.  Even if placing the dough on parchment on the lid/ now base during baking, if you don't flour the bowl, the bread will stick to the sides of the bowl/now being used as a lid to bake.  No matter how you cut it, the usefulness of the item is eliminated.  Either you have burnt flour and a great deal of hard scrubbing or bread stuck to the sides requiring hard scrubbing. It's a bummer.  I was really into baking bread but after 5 passes, I got tired of scouring and scrubbing it clean.  Now I get excited at the idea of making bread, but the thought of all the scrubbing shuts that down fast.

The idea is there but the product needs a fix.
