[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been working hard to cook the most fresh, whole food I can, using foods with a minimum of preservatives. I have recently begun making my own pasta sauce, so when this wonderful attachment for my mixer arrived I was thrilled! I had never made my own pasta so I went in search of a whole wheat recipe in an effort to be more healthy. The texture of the dough was such that the finished pasta was too dense to be enjoyable. Next, I tried the recipe in the pasta press handbook and it was divine! Great fresh pasta made quick and easy with fresh, whole ingredients. Following the instructions in the handbook are important for easy clean-up. This attachment is easy to use and to clean. No more store bought pasta for me!

There is always a learning curve with pasta attachments (I also have the flat pasta attachment) but once you determine the correct amount of water to add to your dough it makes fantastic, great tasting spiral pasta. The attachment always leaves a good amount of extra dough as an FYI.

Fun to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't get to use it for awhile after I got it due to circumstances beyond my control. However, once I got to play with it I fell in love. And the attachments are very easy to attach and use - I have the pasta press and the meat grinder. The mixer itself is fairly quiet, for a heavy duty mixer. I believe as I have more time to play, I will thoroughly enjoy it. And I love the handle on the bowl. My old Kitchenaid bowl did not have that feature.

I just find it would be so much easier if you could put ALL the pieces into the dishwasher for cleaning.  There is a note that indicates some pieces need to be hand-cleaned.    I like simplicity and would like to throw everything into the dishwasher after preparation.

Also, I would like MORE pasta shapes.  Great initial variety, but I'll bet you have some inventive ideas out there!

Trying to get the doe just right is difficult. Kitchenaid dosen't tell you about the doe stuck in the different pasta presses. i found out how to get all out on youtube. I guarantee everyone that owns this dosen't know about the hidden doe.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's too time consuming and after trying 3 times to make Fusilli I ended up twisting them by hand after cutting them loose.

pasta press

I own a Philips pasta maker, but wanted to get the Kitchen Aid version as it had a few other pasta varieties. Made several atrempts with dry to wet pasta, and while it did make pasta, at speed 10, it was painfully slow. We are talking a couple inches per minute max. Loading dough was tedious as you can only put small portions in, and cleanup was a nightmare. The dies do not come apart and the tool to clean them is basically a metal pick. I took the remaining dough and ran it in my Philips after to not waste it. Took all of 8 minutes to have a finished batch of pasta that doesnt need to be babysat. Returned this pile of junk.
