Kettle's carafe and rubber parts produce a persistent unpleasant smell.

Can be rich and deep, but also plastic or chemical-tasting.

Quick heating and easy to use for daily convenience.

Major tea drinker wife, all manner of "exotic" specialty blends.
White, green, black, red and probably others.
H2O temp is key factor, that part I know.
This was a thoroughly appreciated surprise addition to our kitchen.
Plus, I can use it to just boil water for my manual coffee maker.
Simply elegant design and very functional.
Only thing; expect to make at least ~2 cups minimum / use.
(A practical limitation of heating element proximity to bottom of tea strainer basket, needs some distance, therefore more H2O. See no way to design around this, as a practical matter).

Excellent / elegant design and performance

Kitchen Aid

I love my new tea kettle!  It does everything I need and more!  It heats water quickly then holds it at the right temp for brewing tea.  It makes a lovely little ding sound when the water reaches the desired temp.  In addition, it's just a beautiful appliance and looks great in our beverage center.  I would highly recommend this glass kettle to everyone!

By me best friend in the kitchen!

This device makes much better tea than I've every been able to make myself, and its tea compares very favorably with the tea I had during Afternoon Tea in the Thames Foyer at the Savoy Hotel in London a few weeks ago.  Until I tried this device, I would not have believed that a few degrees of temperature could affect the taste of tea so significantly, but it does.  After using this, I would never go back to boiling water in a kettle and adding it (boiling) to my dry tea.  For me, the greatest difference is in making green tea, which this device makes at much a lower temperature than, say, black tea.  I once had excellent green tea on a flight that originated in Japan, but once I was home I never knew why I was unable to duplicate the taste.  However, this device duplicates that taste because it makes green tea at the optimum temperature.  Honestly, without this device I probably would never enjoy good green tea again because I would never possess the patience to heat water and monitor its temperature to achieve the optimum 176 degrees Fahrenheit, BUT THIS DEVICE DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY!  I'm also developing a taste for the grassy flavor of the oolong tea that I've been making recently, which this device brews at 194 degrees Fahrenheit.  

The machine heats and makes tea very quickly.  Also, the glass is beautiful, and the overall design is really lovely.  Additionally, the device occupies very little space after being used.  This obviously is a very well thought out design.

If you are someone who enjoys a cup of tea, you owe it to yourself to find out how much better your tea can be when brewed at the temperature that is optimum for that particular tea.  Thank you so very much for an excellent product that will be very well used in my household.

Best Tea Ever!

I received this glass tea pot and I absolutely love it. The style looks great setting on the counter, it heats up very quickly and has several heat settings to allow for different types of teas. So easy to use. Easy to clean. I use this tea pot every morning. KitchenAid makes Quality.

Quality glass tea pot

Okay, so I love the Glass Tea Kettle. Looks nice works well and then the "but" I am disappointed in the fact that no manufactures seem to get the "GLASS KETTLE" we want all glass, I can taste and smell the plastic in every cup off tea. I can even taste the stainless steel. Now don't get me wrong, if you don't care about the taste it is a wonderful machine. 
But for me it is all about the taste and health, I don't want anything added to me tea that I didn't add myself.

To the people at Kitchen Aid I love your products, but there is a large group of us health nuts that want our food pure and clean. All Glass kettles, mixing bowls, blenders, anything our food goes into needs to be free of plastic's even safe plastic, its not just the health but the taste as well. The more you get away from plastic the more you can taste it and it shouldn't be in our tea or food.
I hope that you can understand this and will work to make more product we can love, and want to use.

Great Tea pot But!

Excellent upgrade to my original KitchenAid Pro Line Water Kettle. It looks much nicer, it heats faster and I absolutely love the included Tea Steeper basket, I can now make a full pitcher of tea much easier. Great built quality as usual from KitchenAid.

Love it, better then my previous Kitchenaid Kettle

Aesthetically we are very pleased, in our opinion one of the nicest we checked out.

It was the kettle (glass or metal) we could find with the least amount of plastic coming into contact with the water.  It appears the only contact is with silicon on the lid and handle attachment.

The temperature options is a plus.  Maintains heat for around 30 minutes after reaching chosen temperature if you don't remove kettle from base, and indicates when that 30 minutes has expired.

One major caveat, if you set it to full boil it does not shut-off.
KitchenAid does not know if this is by design, and while helpful they have not resolved this issue/concern.

Least Plastic Kettle

The KitchenAid Glass Tea Kettle is a vet]y nice addition to the kitchen and tea lovers would enjoy the convenience of 5 different settings to brew different teas. I love the conveniently placed "on/off" switch and the ergonomic lever design to set different temperatures.The new  glass carafe is cool to touch, easy to keep clean, variable temperature, rapid boil, with a convenient spout with a thoughtfully designed cover over the spout to prevent tea particulars being poured. The steel base of carafe and the steel infuser are well designed and easy to maintain. 

The kettle doubles down as a quick, easy way to boil water. I even used it as an infuser to brew herbal decoction and the results were very good. I was able to brew both black tea and green tea and loved the consistent brew each time.

The Glass Tea Kettle I used came with 1.5L carafe and found slightly inconvenient to brew smaller quantity and always ended up brewing 2 cups so the tea in the infuser was well submerged in water. 

Overall this Glass Tea Kettle is definitely a nice addition to the kitchen and KitchenAId has done great job in quality and design. I would recommend this to my tea lover friends and family.

Just the Right Glass Tea Kettle - Love it!!!!

This is an amazing kettle. Although the price is a bit high, if you compare it with the cost of getting a variable temperature kettle from a competitor and also purchasing a loose leaf teapot/4 individual loose leaf tea strainers that are decent, it's actually a comparable price for the functionality that you're getting. There are a lot of clever features here that anyone who makes tea frequently would appreciate. The variable temperature option and the glass carafe where you can see your water boiling are the obvious ones, but there are a number of minor details that show how much thought was put into the design. 

Almost every electric kettle on the market has a flip lid, which means the area for pouring water into the kettle is very narrow, and it's almost impossible to pour in a mug of water without spilling. But this kettle has a lid that can be twisted off rather than flipped up, and I haven't spilled water once! Another benefit of the wide opening is that it's possible to reach a hand inside and clean the kettle out on a regular basis. We threw out an old stainless steel electric kettle because the bottom had grown rusty and slimy due to it being impossible to clean out. That won't be a problem with this kettle. 

I also appreciate how easy it is to insert and remove the loose leaf steeper, and having a separate piece where the steeper can stand up on its own and not spill onto the counter is yet another nice touch. 

The one downside to this kettle is that the loose leaf tea steeper does not quite reach far down enough into the kettle when making a single mug of tea (~12 oz). There's a bit of coverage, but not always enough to cover all of the leaves in water. Of course, with the keep warm function, you can just make 2 mugs of tea, so it's not a HUGE deal, but a bit of an annoyance if I really just want one mug. 

Unlike some other reviews, I did NOT receive this kettle at a free or discounted price. I think it was worth every penny!

Almost perfect

This is my second kettle of this model and both encounter problems with the auto shut off features.  The first one didn't shut off at any of the selected tea temperatures.  the second one now doesn't shut off at the herbal tea or boiling point selection.  There is a need for better inspections of these parts.

Problem with Auto Shut Off Feature

I have had this kettle for a month and can't get rid of the burnt plastic smell.  We keep washing it and boiling water but are unable to use the boiled water because of the terrible taste and smell from the carafe we will be returning this one for something made out of stainless steel.
