We just love this attachment.  It shaves the ice till it is just as fine as snow.  We have used it at least twice a week since receiving it.  We just shave the ice and add the snow cone syrup.  It is such a nice, sweet treat.

We just got back from Maui and loved getting Shave Ice. Wanted a Shave Ice maker of some kid but didn't want to spend a boat load. Gave this attachment a go and we love it! It's easy to use and hook up. The containers are great and the size of them is perfect. We stockpile some of the Ice Pucks if e have guests coming over. The consistency of the ice is great, we typically use the Coarse blade and it works great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is what I've been waiting for! A good quality ice shaver. It comes with 4 containers to create ice pucks and the option of course or fine shaved ice. It's so easy to use and clean! A must have for anyone who wants a high quality product and loves shaved ice! Hands down one of my favorite Kitchen Aid attachmentsi! Photo below is using the coarse option.

Watched a couple Youtube videos to get the swing of the sequence of operations, but it's very intuitive.  Just be easy on it and don't force the parts.  They click together easily once in the right alignment.  Ice puck should be brought up from freezer temperature (which could be 0°F) at room temperature for a few minutes to get a glassy melty surface ready for the blade.  The kit comes with (4) molds and one set takes 12+ hours to freeze, so the chore of harvesting every 12 hours is something to keep on top of if prrparing for a large gathering.  Each puck lasts about 16 oz. (or one tall glass) of prodessional quality fluffy snow.  For roughly $80 + $20 for an extra set of molds, this is a better deal than buying a carnival type machine to take up tons of storage space.  Well worth it if you already have the mixer.

Best accessory I've purchased so far.

The shaved ice is nice and soft, plentiful from just 1 ice cup also.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the shaved ice that the Kitchenaid Shave Ice attachment creates. I like eating shaved ice, but it also makes a great frozen cocktail. My kids also love the the ice. They like just eating the ice plain with a spoon, or with snow cone syrup, koolaid or with their favorite soft drink. As far as the attachment goes it seems well made, was easy to attach to my Kitchenaid Professional 600 mixer. I will admit that upon first use. I was a bit confused on how to attach the blade, I personally found the quick start guide a little confusing in the beginning, but did figure it out. The ice was easy to remove from the round ice containers. Which makes ice like pucks, that you use for this attachment. This is the only draw back, even though they are easy to use and remove. I personally would LOVE this attachment even more if you could use standard ice cubes, so that  if you chose too you could makes tons of shaved ice all at once.  I will definitely be checking to see if you can buy additional containers for more ice pucks to be ready if you chose to make a ton of shaved ice.

Love the shaved Ice it creates!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Such a fun attachment, we're excited to see what combos we can create this summer. It's easy to use once you read the instructions. The first one we did was with orange juice for mimosas so it made a kind of orange juice slushy. Only bummer is that it doesn't shave the entire puck. I've included a picture of what's left at the end.

Ok, I don't feel like I am normally an idiot, but don't make the mistake I did. 
The instructions aren't super clear that you must run the ice puck container under water to release the puck and then use it. 
Seems obvious in retrospect, but instructions not clear. 
If you do not remove the puck, you will feel like it is surprisingly hard to get the Detachable Ice Cup mounted and then your mixer will struggle. You will wonder why, then notice black in your shave ice. And then realize you are shaving plastic. Not good. Especially since only 4 cups come with the machine. Sigh. 
Once set up properly, it seems to work much better. Obviously. 
Might have ruined the blade with the plastic bc texture is more snow cone than shave ice to this exHawaii girl. But maybe user error hurt a bit here.

Holy microplastics, Batman! (aka: am I an idiot?)

Used this for one summer several times and enjoyed it. Put the parts away for winter. When we got it back out we found that the main upper housing does not connect with the driving shaft that is screwed into it anymore. Took the metal shaft mechanism (that ends in a square profile post), and looked inside the white main unit. There appears to be something missing or broken off, because the metal shaft no longer connects to the gear mechanism. We have no idea what happened, but what a total bummer. Can't afford a new one. Can't sell this one. Can't fix it. Can't find a replacement part. Pretty unhappy.

Poor internal mechanism failed after a year.
