It works great. The old model was made of aluminum and would leave black smudge  all over if you put it once in the dishwasher. This one is made of stainless steel and is a much better quality.

Kitchen Aid

Purchased the Kitchenaid that included this whip for my wife's birthday and this accessory has been shedding this gray residue since it was brand new, staining hands and foods all the time.

Leaks Gray

This just arrived. The wires did not look shiny like the rest of the whisk. On further inspection it was also sticky.  The part that was attached to the mixer had watermarks on it like it was used and washed.  So, I thought maybe it was a used and returned. I tried to wash the wires but they still look dull. This reminds me of the whisk that came with my mixer. The wires were stainless steel which was great. But the end part was probably aluminum and would stain black on my hand when i detached it

Horrified by the quality of the whisk attachment that came with my KSM 150. Despite hand-washing, it has oxidized and it doesn't matter how careful I am, I get that gross dark-grey crud all over my hands (which then goes on tea towels and everywhere else I touch), not to mention in the food I'm making. I've had to throw out entire batches. I am so disappointed and annoyed. This quality of stainless steel has not been used in quality products for a very long time. So disappointed in KitchenAid!

Similar to other complaints, this is NOT dishwasher safe. Leaves nasty black residue on hands, counters etc. Purchased a year ago and hadn't used the attachment until now to find this disappointing result. Other attachments are fine in the DW. The quality of this so called stainless steel tool needs to be improved.

Awful quality - black residue

I bought this item last September (7 months ago) I've used it about 5 times and it broke while I was whipping merengue. Horrible product. I thought it was the best brand. I had another brand for 4 years used it daily and never had any problems.

Not recommended

I have the same problem that others have reported. I put the whisk attachment in the dishwasher for the first time (I usually wash it by hand) and the base of it turned black and rubs off on my hands and anything else it contacts. I've been able to wash off a lot of the black stuff but some remains and I'm afraid of it getting into the food if I use it again. The photo shows the whisk after I attempted to wash the black stuff off (by hand).

The representative Molly didn't care and provided poor customer service. One of our items arrived fine and the whisk had an awful smell and sticky texture and they expect me to pay shipping to return it... I definitely don't recommend purchasing from them directly.

Arrived with rancid smell and sticky

I have LOVED my KitchenAid Stand Mixer. It has been LIFE changing!!  But I have the wire whip/whisk that oxidizes in the dishwasher and EVERY TIME I USE IT, it gets my hands dirty...



I give the Stand Mixer 10 stars (out of 5! LOL It's THAT good!) But this one issue, a constantly dirty whisk, brings me down to the 1 star review...  I avoid making recipes that require me to use this whip! I've had it for over 6 years and LOVE it!! I make veggie pasta, cakes & cookies, ice cream, etc with it! LOVE IT!!! But this whip just makes me sad...



It's so strange that a brand like KitchenAid (and I have 3 mixing bowls because I use it so much, the ice cream maker, the spiralizer set and the lasagna peeler for veggie pasta set as well as one of their microwave/convection ovens) would go cheap here on the MOST USED adaptor for the stand mixer...



Very frustrating!

The end oxidizes and gets my hands all dirty!!

for the past few years I have blaming the pudding company and the dairy for black spots in my desserts. I realized last night that it was the wire whip spitting particles of black into my whipped cream!!!! why on earth would kitchen aid ever make an attachment that couldn't go through the dishwasher!!!!! makes no sense. Also, have replaced twice the paddle with white coating. chips easily! step up Kitchen Aid , my mother had trusted you since your company began! I will be purchasing this stainless one but will try in find in store as I need it tout suite! this is not a fair rating as I  am still reeling from realizing that the old whips oxidization caused the black spots all these years!!!I'll write a new one when I get the stainless.
