It works great. The old model was made of aluminum and would leave black smudge  all over if you put it once in the dishwasher. This one is made of stainless steel and is a much better quality.

Kitchen Aid

I bought my second stand mixer after having one for close to 20 years and was happy with it except for the whip, even if you hand wash it, it corrodes and leaves a black residue on your hands, which is not good when baking or for anything for that matter. You should have included the dishwasher-safe whip by now. These things cost a lot of money; I don't have time to scrub my hands whenever I touch the whip. I would think that you would leave the crap out!! I love the stand mixer, just not the cheap whip.

Black Hands

Purchased the Kitchenaid that included this whip for my wife's birthday and this accessory has been shedding this gray residue since it was brand new, staining hands and foods all the time.

Leaks Gray

Horrified by the quality of the whisk attachment that came with my KSM 150. Despite hand-washing, it has oxidized and it doesn't matter how careful I am, I get that gross dark-grey crud all over my hands (which then goes on tea towels and everywhere else I touch), not to mention in the food I'm making. I've had to throw out entire batches. I am so disappointed and annoyed. This quality of stainless steel has not been used in quality products for a very long time. So disappointed in KitchenAid!

Grey mess everywhere!

This just arrived. The wires did not look shiny like the rest of the whisk. On further inspection it was also sticky.  The part that was attached to the mixer had watermarks on it like it was used and washed.  So, I thought maybe it was a used and returned. I tried to wash the wires but they still look dull. This reminds me of the whisk that came with my mixer. The wires were stainless steel which was great. But the end part was probably aluminum and would stain black on my hand when i detached it

Similar to other complaints, this is NOT dishwasher safe. Leaves nasty black residue on hands, counters etc. Purchased a year ago and hadn't used the attachment until now to find this disappointing result. Other attachments are fine in the DW. The quality of this so called stainless steel tool needs to be improved.

Awful quality - black residue

I bought this item last September (7 months ago) I've used it about 5 times and it broke while I was whipping merengue. Horrible product. I thought it was the best brand. I had another brand for 4 years used it daily and never had any problems.

Not recommended

I have used KitchenAid stand mixers for many, many years.  My dear husband bought the copper custom metallic series for our new house/my kitchen - I was in love!   - until I put the attachments in the dishwasher as I have done forever!  Every time I washed it - it came out more black and nasty.  I had no idea what was happening - of course not knowing about everyone else's issues.  I just finished a big wedding cake and after washing everything in the dishwasher - when I pulled out the attachment - I had enough of the black!  Thank you - everyone for your reviews and I couldn't agree more - don't be so cheap! - include a wire whip that truly is"100%" long lasting - ha!

Where is all this black nasty stuff coming from?

I have now bought 2 of these wire whips, both have oxidized after only hand washing. I have reached out to Kitchen Aid and have been told I was outside of the warranty. It is a known issue that there was a batch of these wire whips that oxidized and it is extremely frustrating that Kitchen Aid does not stand behind their product when there is a known flaw.

Disgusted

I was gifted this mixer as a housewarming gift and love it, but there is a huge problem with the whisk. If you clean this whisk you get all this black stuff all over your hands.  I've read about it being oxidized aluminum, and how to get rid of it, but how can you say its harmless? Metal from this whisk is being ingested into your body because of this problem. I can't get behind the idea that it does nothing to you. This whisk should be stainless steel and there would be no problem.  The mixer and other two attachments are perfect, but the whisk definitely needs to be changed.
