Klein Tools CL390 is an automatically ranging true root mean squared (TRMS) digital clamp meter. It measures AC/DC current and NCVT via the clamp, AC/DC voltage, DC microamps, resistance, continuity, frequency, capacitance, and diodes via test leads, and temperature via a thermocouple probe. It features a high visibility, reverse contrast LCD display that optimizes view ability both in dark or bright ambient lighting. Clamp Meter measures current, voltage, resistance and continuity. Digital Meter has auto-ranging TRMS technology for accuracy. Includes a carrying case, test leads, thermocouple, and batteries. Measures temperature with a K-Type thermocouple probe. Max/Min, Rel/Zero and Data Hold capability. Auto-power off after 10 minutes to conserve battery life. Includes a carrying case, test leads with CAT III/CAT IV safety caps, thermocouple, instructions, and 3 x AAA batteries. Low battery indicator and easily accessible battery compartment. Built to withstand a 6.6-Foot (2 m) drop. CAT III 600V, Class 2, Double insulation safety rating. Meets requirements for use in basic and controlled electromagnetic environments like residential, office and light-industrial locations. Does it all, most importantly it tests AC and DC volts and amps. Most only test amps in AC mode.

Great tester

Klein Tools

Worked great to evaluate automotive current draw along with its many other functions.  A big step up from typical multimeters

I love this thing! It's great for measuring AC and DC amps plus it has the normal functions found in a good multimeter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using one at our training center, I purchased my own to keep in my truck for those friends and family phone calls in the middle of the night.  It is well thought out and durable.   Toss an 11-in-1, tick trace, and trippers in the bag and you are good to go for most issues.

my new go to meter

I've been using this meter for 2 years now and it still works and looks like new. The only things that could be better is the temperature sensor reads about 4 degrees Fahrenheit too low, the non-contact voltage meter could be more sensitive, and the clamp is too thick to test most wires in breaker panels.

Keeps working

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Auto Off can be diabled by holding SEL then turn the function dial.
And you can measure 100mA range by looping a cable and measure the loop to magnify the current signal.
And yes. The display is dim under direct sunlight. But it looks great under shade. Remember it is a HVAC meter.

Had this for several months, and  found it is not good for outdoor use, the readout can be unreadable at times. Also the shut off time is too short. 
My wish is this version had normal readout, and milliamp for AC/DC. Then it would be perfect and would pay whatever cost.

Great Meter! But...

Do not buy this CL390 meter! Poor display readout in outdoor applications. Do like all functions though, but can only use indoors. Misleading. I do commercial HVAC and thought this meter would great, nope…..
