Wire Handling

Wire clearance issues with larger cables and connectors.

The product's design restricts user flexibility in terms of pressure application.

I've used many different brand of Ethernet crimpers and those are the best I've used. Cut pass thru wires every time.

Klein Tools

I purchased one of these about three years ago and have made dozens of patch cables and it work great. The other day I try to make was termination on some older cable and pin 1 & 2 keep failing. Then I tried on some newer cable and was having the same issue. Hopefully you have corrected the issue

was good when it was working

Long time supporter and user of Klein Tools, but the VDV226-110 Data Cable Crimping Tool has let me down. It has never cut wires #1 and #8 in a RJ-45 plug. Everytime I crimp a pass-thru connector, I have to clip the end wires.
One would have thought that Klein would have simply made a wider cutting blade, but instead they made the VDV226-005 Data Cable Crimping Tool for Pass-Thru™, removing the RJ11/12 functionality. I have never had to use that part of the crimper, but it was nice to have it in case I needed to.

Doesn't cut wires #1 & #8

I've been in the cable and IT industries for 15+ years.  I love Klein tools and networking equipment.
However, after a year with these crimpers, I threw them away yesterday.
The ratcheting handle is worthless, and there is no way to keep the handles closed.  Horrible design!
The cutter has never done a clean job of cutting the wires, and even worse, it always leaves the two end wires dangling, so I have to wiggle and yank them off.
The only thing this tool does do well is cut through the jacket.
How this ever got to market is beyond me.

But get a load of this...their compact pass-thru model doesn't have a cutter blade for the jacket, AND it CANNOT be used on non pass-thru connectors!!!!  
Whomever is making the decisions at Klein anymore, has really dropped the ball!!

WHY??  What has happened to Klein?

I bought this tool and the first 2 cables I made had no issues. I then went to crimp another 15 cables and all fail crimping the 1&2 pins. I have the explorer tester and it shows all cables are good, except when I plug them in to the device, nothing works. I then bought the scout pro 3 tester to see what was going on and all 15 cables show 1&2 wires failed. I'm using the Klein modular pass through cat 6 connectors as per manufacturer specs. This is highly disappointing and not the quality I've come to know using Klein tools.

Pins 1&2 consistently failing to crimp

I have purchased 5 pairs of these for each of my offices to do simple network updates.  After many CRC errors and Failures on Pin 1&2 - I tested all 5 pairs with a half dozen brands of pass-through connectors with my Klein Scout Pro 3 - None worked. 
The Build quality and features of this tool are awesome - but Sorry Klein, I will have to buy a different pass-through crimper.

5th Time is a Charm?  NOPE...

Tool does not push the pins for 1 and 2 all the way down and therefore there is no connection to the wire. If you look in the pic you will notice the last two pins aren't pushed in fully.

Worthless

Same issue as the majority of the review here with cable 1 and 2. The crimper Worked well for 2 3 months. After I started noticing my tester, scout pro 3, saying 1 and 2 are failing. Reterminated over 6 times and same issue each time. Saw the reviews on this site after looking up this crimper. Now I know it's not me or the cable. Used a different crimper that a Co worker had and it worked flawlessly.

Junk

I bought this tool a little over a month ago and at same time purchased new CAT6.  To my surprise I have been unsuccessful in creating simple patch cables thinking it was either my cable or bad set of RJ45s.  I'm now sitting here with an expensive Klein paperweight and very disappointed!!!  Very heavy duty tool which I want to love but hate because it does not work properly.

Disappointed!!!

Bought one pair of these crimps and started getting pin 1 failures with Fluke certifier. Complained and was sent a new pair. Second one is doing the same thing! Thought it might be a bad set of ends, came here and see the reviews and see that people have been reporting the same problem with the same tool for months? Klein has been one of my trusted companies in this industry for over 20 years. But you have been told about this for months by multiple people right here in these very reviews and clearly choose to ignore it and willingly send out defective tools to your customers. Beyond disappointing.
