Great tent for Backpacking.

This is an awesome tent for 1-2 people who are backpacking and need to pack light. My wife and I packed this in with the footprint, Double V sleeping pad, and the matching sleeping bag and it was the most comfortable camping sleep setup I've used. The tent is tapered in both height and width, so you have plenty of room up where your head is so you can sit up. My favorite feature is the covered entryway to store your gear. We got hit with a storm in the Rockies, and all of our gear stayed completely dry. 100% recommend this tent!

Everything you need, nothing you don't

Like many ultra-light backpacking tents, the Maxfield 4 is an amazing tent that is roomy and spacious with minimal weight! Single pole assembly is easy and intuitive but may be difficult the first time if you aren't familiar with this type of setup. The large vestibule provides room for shoes (and some packs/gear depending on the size). However, the true game-changer is the innovative storage system that Klymit has come up with which allows you tot simply roll everything up and get back on the trail! Highly recommended.

Great Tent with an Innovative Storage System

I bought this as part of a gear upgrade as I now have two kiddos, aged 9 months and 2.5 years that I wanted to take with me on backpacking trips. So I needed more room than my old 2-person backpacking tent had.

I've got to say, I'm super pleased with this tent. The design is a little strange at first. You stake down the tent to the ground and rely on the tension created from this process to then complete the assembly, so in that regard the ability to drives stakes all the way into the ground is important so I bought a hammer/hatchet for that purpose. 
The pole system is also a little odd - not bad, just odd - in that it combines the function of three poles into one pole system. It's difficult to explain in text, but it isn't that complicated and is really a clever design. 

The whole thing rolls up into a bag instead of a traditional stuff sack which is also cool. You can unroll the bag that the tent comes in and use it as a doormat once you get it set up.

In terms of room, there is plenty for our family of four. There's a door on either side, one big and one small. Two pockets on the ceiling and two loops as well to string up a light. 

Set the whole thing up in 15 minutes moving at a leisurely pace. Breakdown / storage in the neighborhood of 20 minutes. Again though, this is also while dealing with my kids etc. If you were going for speed, you could probably have it up in about five minutes. 

I would recommend setting it up in the backyard before you get out on your camping trip though. As I said, the design is clever but it is not like any tent I have seen before so you'll want to be familiar with it so you aren't trying to figure it out for the first time in the cold or if you're racing against sunset. 

Used it five times so far in 40 degree night time weather. It's kept us warm and I haven't noticed any defects. Overall I'm very impressed. I also bought Kylmit's two person sleeping bag and sleeping pad to use with the family and recommend those as well.

I bought this as part

Product was great, setting it up isn't as intuitive as I thought it would be. Practiced it once in the backyard and then once hunting for 3 days in Colorado in September. 2 people of average size could fit in it with a little room to spare. I was solo in it so had plenty of room to keep my clothes, bags and bow in the tent with me if I wanted and the front section and door mat area had plenty of room for extra storage. Luckily I didn't have to test the rainfly on the trip but I did turn the sprinkler on it for an hour or so in the backyard and no water was let through.

So far really enjoying this tent. First couple pitches were clumsy, as the poles have to be oriented a certain way, and it can be difficult to completely zip the vestibule fly when already inside the tent, but otherwise I love the internal space and thoughtful design.

So far really enjoying this

I really like this tent. Lightweight enough for a solo backpack, roomy enough for me and my dog. Vestibule was adequate for my gear but may not be enough room if backpacking with my husband. Set up not as easy as I would have thought...must remember to stake out tent first. Also this tent has to be "guyed" out as it is not completely freestanding. I cannot speak to rain or condensation since it has been warm and dry in Colorado. Tent did well in 15-20 mph winds but wish it came with more stakes to properly guy it out. Also 2 of the stakes bent at set up. Fortunately, I always carry a couple of extra MSR stakes so no worries. 5 stars for the "burrito" bag. So much easier to roll up tent/fly than trying to shove it into a cloth "tube." Also was able to take out poles and compress sack to easily fit into into my pack. All in all very pleased!

I really like this tent.

Well built, innovative "stuff" sack, really trick piece of equipment. Setup is a little finicky the first time, but not bad after. This tent should hold up well for a while. 

Pros: 
1. Light weight 
2. Roomy, I'm 6'5" thank you for thinking about us tall people 
3. Should do very well for 3 season use 

Gripes:
1. If you want to offer something on expert voice make sure you have the accessories in stock, in this case the footprint was out of stock. I would not use this tent without a footprint, so I bought one elsewhere.
2. Tent stakes, why did you not include enough for all the tie outs? 
3. Plastic clips on the poles make me nervous, I'd want a replacement provision available.

Super light!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchase this tent, I set it up in my garage by weighting down the corners to allow the tent to stand, during the process the screen on the tent ripped along the top bar connections, i'm not sure if the tent had a hole initially and they why it ripped of it it was manufactured wrong and was to tight. Regardless of that, i have wrote Gathr outdoors twice now and have yet to receive any response back in regards to a warranty for this tent. im very disappointed at this time with the lack of customer service i am receiving. My previous experience with buying higher end products is the customer service is impeccable, But this is not the case with Gathr Outdoors. I really hope to hear from someone soon so i can return my tent and get a new one to actually be able to use it.

Poor Customer Service

I purchased the Maxfield 4 tent and used it less than 5 times before it ripped during set-up. Nothing was forced, we were just attaching a clip to a pole. This tent has a warranty, but Klymit said this is an uncovered situation. Either their product is garbage or their warranty is garbage.
