This is my go-to hair dye brand and color! You get such a rich long-lasting color, and SO much cheaper than going to the salon! I get compliments on the shade. Easy to use. I do recommend if you have long/thick hair to get 2 boxes. Still much cheaper than the salon though. I've used for years now, and this has never turned me brassy, or made my hair have that hair dye smell for days like a lot of other brands will!

Same color as the picture on the box. . 5AB, Does not leave a red/orange or burgundy undertone. 
The gal that normally does my hair moved to Hawaii in June so I had ALOT of grey  and it covered and blended perfect.  
Don't let it scare you when it turns almost black in color when you are waiting for it to take.  Let it set for the entire time recommended.

Beautiful color. Easy to use. Affordable. Covers gray hair very well. Also does not wash out quickly. After a month and a half still looks great!

Great coverage for gray hair

Used the L'Oréal Preference hair color previously, because I was trying to cover blonde grow-out as well as matching my natural Level 5 hair color, and afraid of the opacity of the Excellence line. The initial color was amazing because it was luminous and dimensional, almost as though I had subtle highlights. But, the color never did work for my grays and it faded very quickly. After waiting about 8 weeks, I used this, the Excellence hair color line. It came out much truer to the color depicted on the packaging, and it definitely provided better gray coverage.  It is an opaque and one-dimensional color, however it is also rich, shiny, and gives my hair a wonderful texture.  The Excellence is also lasting much longer than the Preference color. Really depends on what your goal is. I prefer this one, L'Oréal Excellence for a true, long-lasting color.

Excellence for rich, true color

This product  is perfect for my brown %26 senior gray peppered hair, covers very well, lasts me about 6-9 months.  The 4A Ash brown has updated directions that allows me to control the light or dark tone.  The kit also includes a special shampoo that cleans all the excess residue off of your scalp and a conditioner that makes it shine. In between coloring i use sulfate free shampoo which helps color last longer.

Great color, simple to use and inexpensive!

It's been awhile since I've bought box dye. I was scared because I was covering grey roots and I don't have any help- and I can't see well to do it. 
But everything about this product makes it perfect to use by yourself. It comes with two different bottle tops and the one that's similar to a comb is perfect to make sure you got all the hair. 
I made a mess as usual but even that cleaned up easily. 
My grey is covered, my sink is clean, and it wiped right off my skin. 
Plus my hair looks good.

I was very impressed with this hair color. I have not had any itching after the application. My hair color turned out beautifully and more accurately than other products I've tried. I have a very nice shine to my hair afterwards. There is very little to no scent to my hair when finished. I like the protective qualities to this product. I will buy this again next time. Very happy with it.

I've used L'Oreal products for many years on my hair . The color is true to what it describes . I use the ash tones because my hair tends to grab the red . With this product it last longer than most before you need a touch up . It also comes with a traditional type bottle to apply and one that is a comb type applicator . I use the comb type one because it makes it so much easier to apply without all the mess and splatters.

This product didn't seem a thick in consistency as others I have purchased from Loreal.  The smell was fine. It didn't seem to moisturize my hair or make it shiny as others I used either. At first, I did not like the color at all. It was a dull almost black color. After a couple washes it lightened up and you could then see the maple, slight reddish color come out.
After using my regular shampoo and mousse product it has become shinier. And I do like the color now. I have been out in the sun a lot lately and there are more reddish highlights coming out, which I like.

a little undecided on this one

I had hoped for better results with this L'Oreal box dye. It is specifically designed to cover gray hairs, but the results lasted only about 1 week at my crown. It does come with an after treatment shampoo and purple conditioner which is a plus. The conditioner is large enough for multiple applications, so I'm hoping it will keep the brassiness at bay. This dye may work well for others, but my grays are stubborn.

I have used the same brand and product without the additional product via shampoo and conditioner never had issues But this Product Use Was Not Good I Have A Blister Rash On the back of my Neck every other Area Where I Have used this Product is still tender But Great Color Products Any Other Time Of Purchase
