This is the best hair color I have found that will actually cover gray hair and keep it covered for an extended amount of time. I even have a white streak down the back of my hair which is the hardest to color and it actually hold! But this product does and has for as long as I have used it. I found Lorel permanent hair color probably a year or more ago decided to give it a try because I was tried of spending so much money getting my hair colored! This has been my magical find! Just so you all know I am natually a brunette with a hint of red, so I am not steering to far off from my natural color. But with this product you will get a nice long lasting beautiful hair color. Of course you do have to make sure you follow up with the proper after care for your hair color or it will fade faster.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was nervous that the color would be too bright after seeing the color on the box, but it turned out to be a beautiful light auburn, not as brassy as the box shows. I almost took a star off because the picture on the box was misleading. It was easy to apply with the comb-type attachment on the bottle. After approximately a month, the color hasn't faded and is still beautiful. I would use this again.

May buy another one just to bring out the color more. I have natural locs and I don’t put chemicals in my hair and this was my first attempt in along time trying out color. No damage no dandruff and no redness of any kind to my hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the L’Oréal Exellence crème hair color. Everything I needed is in one box. The color developer is easy to mix. The comb attachment for the bottle spreads the crème evenly through my hair. There wasn’t a loud ammonia smell like other hair colors has had. That was really nice not to have to deal with the ammonia smell. The hair color rinsed easily and cleanly from my hair. I like the fact this particular hair color had the tube of shampoo as well as conditioner for after coloring. After drying my hair all my grey was covered completely. Even though the box was for a light brown my hair color looks like my natural hair color before the grey. This is definitely one I will continue to buy in place of my usual hair color.

It work good at  my wisdom streaks coverage.I would and have recommended Excellence by Loreal at home hair dye to my family and friends. I like inches box gives you an added product as a pre treatment for ends of hair. The dye isn't smelly. The conditioner has a good acent. This product leaves hair feeling soft tangled free.

Make sure it's right for your hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this L’Oreal Paris Excellence Crème home hair color kit just yesterday.  Before I had even finished drying my hair, my husband walked by and said, “Oh, your hair looks really pretty!”  He had no idea I had just colored it, and the color is very close to what I woke up with yesterday morning…and still, he noticed, even just from walking by.  That’s a measure of how great this product has made my hair look.  It has lifted my grays and given my medium blonde hair dimension and shine I wasn’t expecting.  

This kit is pretty straightforward and easy to use.  I don’t have a lot of experience coloring my hair myself, but I have done it a number of times, and the steps for this product are very similar to those of any other box hair colors I have used.  The only small surprise I found in this kit is that it comes not only with a conditioner for aftercare, but a small tube of shampoo, too.  But basically, and as usual, you just mix the color with the developer and apply the resulting product to your roots first, then to the lengths of your hair.  I had full saturation with this one bottle for my just-below-the-shoulder-length hair with no problem.  (Very long hair might require two boxes for full coverage.)  This kit comes with an applicator comb, but since I hadn’t colored in the last three months, I followed the directions for all-over color, which does not require the comb accessory, for some reason.  I set my timer for 32 minutes (instead of the suggested 30 because I like numbers that are divisible by 4, and yes, I really am that weird) and waited for half an hour(ish).  The mixture was very soft and foamy when I began to rinse it, and the shampoo made it even softer and foamier, but it rinsed clear and clean.  I followed with the conditioner, as per instructions, and boy, does my hair feel fantastic now!  It’s so super soft and healthy-feeling!  And the color is gorgeous.  My grays are all but gone.  I can still see a few along my hairline, but that’s probably down to user error, and they aren’t very noticeable, anyway.  Overall, I am really impressed with the performance of this hair color.  It was easy to use and it produced a beautiful effect in less than an hour.

UNFORTUNATELY, however, my review cannot end there.  While the product itself is good, some of L’Oreal’s practices are not.  This brand still sells their products in mainland China where animal testing is compulsory.  So while L’Oreal claims they haven’t participated in any animal testing for several decades now, they are still complicit in the needless and senseless suffering of countless tortured and terrified cats and rabbits.  For that reason, I can’t and won’t recommend this product, regardless of how effective it might actually be.

I feel like I just bathed my hair in chemicals for nothing. The packaging was fine, the kit was easy to use, and I like that it included shampoo as well. But as far as coloring my hair goes... nope.
