Our Grandson loves legos so we bought him this set at Christmas  time. Using his own imagination he made so many different items that he asked for  another one for his birthday in September. He'll be getting this set in a couple days. 
The only thing I wish is that there were less bricks with eyes replaced with more plain legos.  Also to have more big bases to put the finished legos he builds on the bases.
Otherwise we are extremely happy with the big packages of mixed color legos.

Picked up one of these sets locally on a whim. We found that it has lots and lots of different pieces of a wide color variety and shapes. Is says 1500 (I think it's 1496 actually) but you don't really realize how many that is until you open all the packs and the minipacks within them. We've built a few random things (see photos) and still have a shoe box full of bricks left. In fact I noted several reviews on the official lego website complain there are not enough of the actual bricks, but let me tell you the diversity of pieces included is amazing! The pieces were also really thoughtfully selected for this set, as there are just enough same pieces of the same color (usually 4-8) to make what you need. Lego also helpfully included less traditional colors such as pink and teal that got my girl building. This is not just for boys. On the flip side we wished there were fewer colors and more pieces of the same color. Maybe I'll just get another set! Happy building everyone!

Terrific set for creative free-building

As an adult just getting back into Lego, this seemed like the largest collection of assorted bricks available for purchase. There's 1500 pieces in all different colours. It was pretty much everything I expected, however, there's a few things that I feel could be improved. 

+ More larger plates. I would have liked at least 6 or 7 larger plates to build on. 

+ 1 or 2 extra lego separators. If this was purchased for children or a family, I think it would be nice to have at least one additional lego separator tool. 

+ Some type of storage. I purchased a storage case separately, but I think at the very least a simple plastic box could be included that fits all 1500 pieces. 

+ More offline instructions included. The instruction book included only has about 4-5 small builds, with the option to view a few more online. I feel at least a dozen could be included with a set this large. 

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to start building MOCs or just play around with some Lego. It's very interesting learning about all the different types of pieces and how they can be connected together. 

This would be great for kids or adults, and it's sure to spark the imagination of anyone who gets to dig around in this big pile of Lego pieces. :)

Ultimate Starter Pack

The LEGO blocks were great but I bought it as a gift for my grandson and it came with the box all smashed up so I had to take everything out of the box and buy a lego container to give it to him. I was embarrassed to give him a smashed box that would look like I bought it at goodwill.

'Bricks bricks bricks" is misleading. We already had Lego sets with a million teeny pieces and while those are fun, I was looking for JUST bricks for my younger kids for building houses and whatnot. Disappointed when we opened it and found that most of the pieces are small odd-shaped specialty pieces that younger kids can't use for building structures. Really shouldn't be called a brick set. Wish Lego offered one in this price range.

I found as an added set that all you get in this set is small pieces. If this was a first set for my grand child, he would have trouble making a large project as there were too many small little pieces and hardly no bricks to make something. VERY disappointed in set

All small tiny pieces

I've been collecting LEGO since the mid-70's and have thousands upon untold thousands of bricks.  My kids are keeping the tradition.  But this is not a set any of us would recommend.  Please LEGO, quit it with the riotous multiplicity of colors.  We didn't have any particular building needs in mind, but just requested a set of basic bricks to increase our reserves for future projects.  This smallish set contains SIX (!) different shades of the color green.  Several shades of pink--everyone here hates pink, especially the girls.   And so on!  Because there are so very many colors, you only get a handful of each one, and that emphatically includes the basic blacks, blues, and reds that most of have in our collections. Anyone who wants to build with aesthetically pleasing color schemes should look elsewhere.  I guess there's no where to go but pick-a-brick, as this seems to be de-rigueur for all the sets now.   

And though it's not apropos of this set, I have some other feedback:  I don't like the new focus on brand licensing from shows I consider inappropriate for children. I feel like I'm going to have to start reviewing your catalog before (if)  I hand it to children.

Too many colors!!

This set contains a lot of pieces that are not bricks. Set 6177 was better value for money in terms of bricks. Please bring it back.
