This is the first Creator Expert set I've bought and I'm nit disappointed. Some of the building techniques used in this build were really creative and outstanding. Overall I'd say it was worth my money, even makes me consider purchasing a second building to go along with it.

This is the first modular building I have ever purchased and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed building it. there's so many little details that just really make the building. And it has alot of play features that my daughter loves she couldn't wait for me to finish making it so we could start playing with. Over all a great build and a great building.

Fantastic

I've just got the first two sets of bags assembled. I really like the Diner signage. Tile usage to make the sign uses techniques I've never seen before. 

Read online where some don't like the use of non-traditional faces on the figures . . . Really? If that bothered me, I have a couple hundred old-style faces I could replace them with. 

Overall this set is one of my favorites. I put it up there with the Detective's Office. It's whimsical and has lot's of interior detail.

Every year I look forward to getting the latest modular building. I've managed to get all of them and my Lego Town grows a little each year. It keeps a very old kid happy. Thanks Lego for keeping the modulars going!

Lego Diner

What a way to begin 2018! Got this beauty of a set first thing this morning and wow am I impressed! Just finished building it. I saw the first pictures of it online a month ago and I knew as soon as I saw it I had to have it.. having previously built the BrickBank and last year's assembly square I was a little concerned however at the style of this set, turns out that it is not such a major issue after all and it fits in with the existing modulars. The era now has gone into the 1950's somewhat and yes the minifigures have expressions on their faces now but I only see that as a good thing.. let's be honest, everything around us evolves all the time so why should the modulars be any different?? The design of the building itself is a work of genius! The creator (Mike Psiaki) has captured the look of a vintage 50's jukebox absolutely perfectly, it couldn't be any better than what it is.. the curves, the colours, the details.. the list is endless.. everything about this set just hits the right mark. I could go as far to say that this is as good if not better than the coveted Parisian Restaurant. However my favourite of all about it is placement.. the fact that there is a Gym upstairs where you go to get healthy and yet downstairs in the Diner they are serving fried bacon, pancakes and milkshakes etc.. that whole Lego modular comedy placement is there and I love it. Yet Another excellent set from Lego! Well done and bring on 2019's build now!

A nice change for the modular series

This building is a an amazing build. Lots of different building techniques make it a really fun build.
 The one thing that really jumped out at me was NO stickers! Thank You LEGO for just pre printed parts, and NO stickers!!
 Also the price for the piece count is really nice!

Nice addition to the Modular town.

I went on 1/1 to the store to buy this new set. I loved it from when I first saw it advertised online. This set did not disappoint. The recording studio is so cool! The gym is great as well. I love the curved windows. Also, no stickers is a bonus. I don't think the set needs a pink car to go with it though. PLEASE KEEP MAKING NEW MODULAR CITY SETS! I have added this to my modular city and it looks great! It doesn't have to be a corner piece FYI.

So lovely and fun to build.

At first I thought the building was on the smaller size. For the price especially. However I just finished Step 2 and there's a ton of cool elements to the structure. Especially the rounded over hang. Extremely well planned. The best part (so Far) is the word "Diner". Well executed and planned out.

Very cool

Have had this set for a few months. Here are my thoughts. In short, this is not one of my favorite modular sets. While I am glad TLG keeps moving to make the buildings unique, IMO this one does not fit in with the others. Also IMO I really just don't care for the colors or the overall look. That said, it was a fun build and glad the series is continuing. Was not very excited to see it was a Diner, already have a cafe in Assembly Square and a full restaurant in Parisian restaurant. Wish they would have kept with the original car dealership theme or something unique. So here's the skinny
Pros
Very detailed interior
Nice boxing ring
Building displayable from three sides
Real faces on the mini figs

Cons
Only one boxer for the boxing ring (need a least two)
Really does not fit in with the other buildings of the series

Not sure the whole theme of a diner, gym and radio studio all in the same building works. Would like to see a future set that is more focused on one theme, like a Hospital, Car Dealership, Hotel, etc. Nice if the whole building had a common theme.

While I would recommend this set, if you are not going to collect the whole series their are better sets still available. I would rate this set right in the middle compared to the previous releases. Not great, not horrible, just average for the theme.

Additional: Here are a few thoughts I would like to see on a possible future modular release. Would be good additions to the series. Both would offer good play/display value.

Ok, but not at the same level as previous sets.

As an avid modular building collector I always collect the newest addition to the series. However, even though the designer did well on the building itself, it stands out (In a bad way) with the smooth curves and arches, and bright colors, when displayed with other buildings. (I wonder if that was intentional) I feel like Mike just ignored the designs of previous buildings and just made this one to stand out. I wonder if Jamie was even part of the design.(If not, bring him back!) I understand that Lego can't do 30's style European buildings forever, but they could've started the new generation of modular buildings with a building that's a little more subtle in appearance to act as a branching point between the two. (all this assuming they continue the 50's theme) 
A controversial change is the minifigures heads, in which Lego swapped the classic smiley faces for modern faces. I like it, but it makes it hard to display minifigures with and without classic faces. Now I have to either swap out these heads for the smiley face, Or get modern heads for all the previous minifigures.
Overall, a decent set, but display wise, it's the worst, as it's just too different from the other modular buildings.

Disappointing Diner

Good concept for a modular. However, color scheme doesn't fit with the other modulars. Its almost like Friends and Creator modulars decided to mix. Teal and pink don't fit. If the color scheme was better I would give it 5 bricks. Oh well...still waiting for a Post Office, Library etc...maybe someday!
